a lot depends on your room configuration. Wides are the most "obvious" in terms of the sonic impact, but the effect will really only work if you have room to space them out appropriately. Likewise, if you don't have a lot of room behind the seating position (e.g. if your couch is up against the back wall) then surround backs may be difficult to integrate properly.
