Need to be posited in right direction please??!

Have been having some issues connecting my laptop to my media extender (XBox 360) via my MS Win Vista Media Center. I did have it at one point where the screen on the TV was the same as laptop, but now that is not it. I also cannot get it to even grab some video or audio files from a machine on the same network. So I am starting over with the media center setup as I must have taken a wrong path. Laptop is wireless, but connects to router which in turn also has 3 other PC connected both wired and wirelessly. My TV, BD player, XBox, etc... connects through a DLink hi-speed hub/switch so that these components can connect if they aren't wireless. Of course all I need essentially for media center are wireless (XBox, PC).

So I am hoping if some of you can give me some guidance. Going through all the sites on the internet can cause "some" confusion. I mean, I am a techie, just not much with networks or these sorts of things YET. Maybe some decent pages that go through it step by step showing and telling why with also presenting other options. See, I want to be able to use some plugins to view other things like Hulu, youtube, etc... That is just the video side, but I would also like to view my laptop screen on my TV without the MS MC.

Sorry if a bit vague as I have been working this out and getting burnt. Any and all help is really much appreciated!

I'm unclear as to what all you're actually asking, but as far as displaying your laptop screen on your tv, you should just have to activate the external display.

There are typically several ways to do this depending on the laptop, but you don't mention the model or the operating system so all I can suggest is go to the display properties and enable the secondary monitor. You should be able to either clone the primary display or extend your desktop, using the TV as a secondary screen.
