Gunnar just made their 3D glasses available for purchase! They support RealD and Xpol 3D technologies. I have a pair already (contacted them to get a pair early so I can see Toy Story with them tomorrow and I'll post my review of the experience in this thread.

What I can say right now about the pair I have (Phenom 3D) is that they feel very sturdy! The lenses are made of the same high quality material Gunnar uses on all their other eyewear and they fit much nicer than the standard RealD ones.

Links to purchase:

Phenom 3D (mens)

Anime 3D (womens)

Just want to clarify...

For those that read this but are not aware these are Polarized 3D glasses, not the shutter glasses that current home tech is using. So do not order these thinking they will work with your new 3Dtv .

Looks like they'd be difficult to wear with corrective lenses, just like polarized theater glasses are.

LOL! And people are complaining about the cost of active shutter glasses. $100 for a pair of passive polarized glasses?

They are pretty awesome glasses though. IMO I think they are worth it cause the RealD ones suck...

I saw Toy Story 3 in 3D yesterday at my local Rave Motion Pictures. Here is my quick review of the Gunnar Phenom 3D eyewear:

First of all, I was extremely impressed by the picture quality and comfort achieved by using the Gunnar Phenom 3D glasses as compared to the standard adult RealD glasses handed out at the theater. The Phenom 3D fit like a normal pair of prescription eyewear and the build quality and material of the frame and lenses is the best I've ever experienced (I wore prescription eyewear before switching to contacts last halloween).

The overall brightness was slightly higher than the standard RealD glasses, but it was quite noticeable due to the color shifts evident in the standard RealD glasses. What I noticed when I compared the RealD and Gunnar glasses side-by-side was the the RealD glasses had a noticeable color shift. Whites had a blue tint and certain other colors appeared more yellow or green. The Gunnar glasses had absolutely zero color shift! This led to a much more enjoyable experience because the blue tint to the whites caused by the RealD made the picture appear more dark overall in addition to the RealD's lower transmittance. I also did not notice any crosstalk, but I will admit that Toy Story 3 did not have any extreme pop-out or depth effects that generally can cause crosstalk.

Overall, I give the Gunnar 3D line of eyewear an extremely high recommendation to any 3D enthusiast. If you want the best RealD 3D experience possible then a pair of Gunnar 3D eyewear is the way to achieve it. At an MSRP of $99 (along with 7-9% off at Amazon and Buy.com and 15% off at the Gunnar Online Store) the glasses are not overpriced. They are heavy duty components and are simply the best RealD compatible 3D eyewear on the market. You will not be disappointed with the 3D performance of Gunnar 3D eyewear.
