Thanks for the info on iRule and the setup for it. If I can avoid getting something like the Global Cache device I will be a bit ahead of the game. I think of the PC as something that can do just about anything. Why should I pay for standalone devices that are less flexible? Maybe it is bc I am a programmer?
Mind you, I just spent $70 on the IR transceiver.
I was looking at the http://touch-ir.webs.com
app and it look pretty darn flexible. Since I am running software off the PC such a VLC for movies and Winamp for music, I want to be able to control them through the remote and maybe even be able to type using the remote. I think the touch ir+ allows this. It also interfaces with some freeware apps like EventGhost which is really powerful. Plus, since my lights are ultimately controlled by the IR attached to the PC, I can have music being played by the PC affect the lights. That would be really slick.
I think all of these Ipod/Iphone remote apps are the way to go, especially if you have one already.
I do have that same PJ. I have a bit over 4000 hours over 2 years so far without any problems. I bought a bare bulb recently from eBay and can't decide if it is dimmer than stock, but at a third of the cost it will be worth it if I get 3-4 months out of it. I might also open up the PJ and see if I can give it a bit of cleaning.
If someone would release a 3D 1080 PJ at or under $2K, I might upgrade.
