I have an Onkyo TX-NR906 that is still under warranty that I am having problems with. Here is what happens:
When I turn it on for the first time each day, the display for the selected input comes up and does not blink.....however the display for the selected audio and video settings blink on and off for several minutes. For example if I have the input for the TV Selected, the "CBL/SAT" input display comes on solid and stays that way. However, the audio and video displays associated with it blink on and off for several minutes. These are things such as "HDMI", "THX Cinema", etc. blink on and off for about 10 minutes. The whole time this is going on my TV picture and sound are blinking on and off simultaneously with the blinking lights on the Onkyo receiver display.
After about 10 minutes, all of the display lights, my television, and the audio all come on and everything works perfectly.
I have independently tested each of the components away from the Onkyo receiver and have confirmed that they all work properly. I am certain it is a problem with the receiver itself. I emailed Onkyo and they told me to try resetting the receiver (this meant that ALL of my settings had to be redone!). Begrudgingly, I did this and once I got it all set up again, I still had the same problem.
Also I have noticed that if I leave the receiver on and turn off all of the other components for hours, there is no blinking problem when I turn the components back on again. Again, this points to the receiver and not an individual component as being the problem. If I turn the receiver off and then quickly turn it back on again, there is no blinking problem. But if I leave the receiver off for any amount of time greater than a few minutes, I get the blinking problem again when I turn it back on.
I should note that the unit had been operating for more than a year with absolutely no problems before this problem cropped up. Any information on what the problem is and how to fix it is appreciated. Thanks for help.
