Looking for a good receiver at a great price

I'm in the market for a good yet very affordable ($200 price range) receiver. HDMI would be a must, at the price range I am looking at I would just assume I will be picking up a used model (this is fine) I'm currently looking at the Denon AVR-589 for about $200 shipped 5.1 75w HDMI and Sirius Ready (nice added bonus) any other used receivers I should look at?

Interesting, but wouldn't a used Denon AVR-589 or maybe even the AVR-689 be a better receiver?

Not necessarily. I have the NS-R5101HD in my second HT and it's a solid performer. The Insignia decodes Dolby TrueHD and DTS-MA (589 doesn't), has 3 HDMI 1.3a inputs (589 has 2). Also new Insignia comes with a 1 year warranty vs. a 90 day warranty on refurbished Denon AVRs. JMO

Amazon has been discounting this one on and off. I got it for under $200. It offers more features than others for the price.

Advice from others has its limits tho. People recommend what they know, if it works. Most important is getting the features and quality that matter most to you, at a price you can afford.

The AVR-589 and 689 do not do audio over HDMI so take that into consideration. The 590 and 790 do though.

And here's the best deal you're likely to find on a refurb 590...close to your $$ limit and it also decodes Dolby TrueHD and DTS-MA
