Looking at the On Screen Info, looks like Analog Resolution is 480i to 480i. Can I change output to 720P or 1080i (All my 50" Panny can handle) or do I have to leave at 480i?? I have looked through every inch of the on screen controls to try to change.

Thanks for the help!

Yes it will, see pages 115 and 90 of the owners manual(be sure you're using hdmi out of 667 to tv,not component).
on screen>set-up>video,be sure that "processing" is on.

Thanks sofast....

Processing IS on.....but info screen still says 480i to 480i......Appears that Wii picture direct to TV is a little better than thru 667. There has to be a way to upscale the 480i to 1080i......I JUST CAN'T FIND IT!!

Any other ideas??

Ensure that resolution on the AVR is set to either 720p or 1080i and that the AVR and TV are connected via HDMI.

Thanks for posting back. I was going to add that I'm using the trigger and don't have any problems with it.

Hi all,

I just picked up a V667 (it's unwrapped and I'll get to set it up tonight) because it was the most-affordable HDMI 1.4 receiver I could find with analogue pre-outs. I have a 6.2 system running on active crossovers and therefore separate amps, hence the need for pre-outs.

The presence channels are new to me. However, it's not clear what amplifiers are being used to drive these two channels - if you peer through the top ventilation, you can see 14 MOSFETs in a row on the heatsink, as to be expected for 7 simple channels of discrete amplification. I don't see anything in the specs and/or user manual about what amplifiers are used for the EXTRA SP output terminals.

Since I have separate amps for all my other channels, it'd be nice to assign one of the better internal amplifiers to the presence speakers. Any idea if that is possible?

If you replace the 667's on-board L|C|R|LS|RS amps with an external amp, the respective on-board amp stays idle.

There are however no "presence" preouts. And I can't tell what the presence amps are since they're separate from the main 7 channels.

The presence speakers and surround back speakers share the same amplifier. Sounds cannot be output from both presence and surround back simultaneously.

Ah, thanks. Good to know it's not a little chip-amp or something. Guess I'll stick with the 6.2 for a while.

Is there receivers that do have EQ's in them? And if not, does anyone recommend a good home EQ?

When you're using 5 or 7 channels, the actual power output is about half the 2 channel output. This is why I think pre-outs are a necessity, so you can add more power if needed.

BTW: Right now Amazon still has brand new 667s(not refurb or b stock) for$319 w/free ship,no tax. They won't last long.

I was mad when I went to buy it friday and it was up to 409. I got a used one instead as the seller seemed to be reptuable and a lot of people had no issues with the receivers. warranty will be a no go though....

get component cables for the Wii and set it to 480p and feed that into the receiver which will convert it to 1080p

The other poster specifically stated that the maximum resolution of which his television is capable is 720p/1080i. Therefore, converting to 1080p is fruitless.

I have component cables and have set output resolution to 1080i.........When I go to onscreen info, video output, it says HDMI is 480 to 1080i....the others are still 480 to 480....kinda weird....

the receiver will quite happily convert 480i component to 1080i or 720p....

I will have this receiver in my hands shortly and I have a Wii. I will then reply back to you indicating how to set this bad boy up for you.

I read through the manual and as far as I know, all sources that are standard def will automatically get converted to the output when the output is set to hig def.

... Which is why post number 3333 makes so much sense.

Added a new TV...now no sound from TV

Hello

i know this is simple since I ran into the same thing when setting the rec'r up when I got it. I just cannot find the answer. If memory is correct it's a simple "turn on in the right order" for everything to "handshake" correctly. All was fine with the Sony TV we had to replace from damage. The new set is a Panny 55GT30. Picture is right on with AT&T, Xbox and Blu-Ray. Just no sound from the set. TV speakers are enabled. No changes in the inputs on the rec'r. I've got it in "HDMI ARC 1" on the TV.

Hi DR.DTS, are you trying to transmit tv audio back to receiver connected speakers or trying to pass audio from receiver to play out of tv speaker?
Awww fudgesickles, Fed Ex mangled my receiver......the faceplate is damaged and metal is bowed out on left side....no obvious damage to box.......

I'm sorry i didn'tput how the setup is.

I have one HDMI from the rec'r to the TV and then the BR player, XB ox and AT7T going to the rec'r. Everything has been working with the broken set. Turn on the rec'r i get sound thru the system. Turn off the rec'r, TV would flash 'Black'..come back with a picture and sound came thru the set. All I've done is switch TV's and now no sound thru the TV speakers with the AT&T or Xbox but the picture is perfect.

Does the TV have a firmware update to address this? how about from device straight to TV, does that work?

If you made no changes to your AVR after purchasing and setting up the Panasonic television, and if your Sony television did not support ARC, ensure that ARC is enabled on the AVR. Enable CEC (Viera Link) on the Panasonic. There are several parameters to establish, if I recall correctly. If there is a separate tick for ARC on the Panasonic, enable it. On the Panasonic, ensure that Panasonic speakers are enabled as default, rather than home theater.

Suggest to check receiver "Standby Through" is set to "ON" and maybe "Audio Output TV is set to "ON" found under HDMI menu.

TV is having trouble accepting 1080p, how can i get it to display 720p using the faceplate?
Well I feel a bit stupid...I have the RX-V671 and not the 667 model. But I still didn't get the TV sound last night even after firmware update to the new TV and Yamaha. In the Yamaha menu everything is "On" that should be. I tried the unplug the power and HDMI at the TV deal and still nothing. I've asked over in the Panny Plasma TV orum about the sound from TV and maybe there's something in there but I have the correct HDMI input. Tonight I might try to power down everything, reconnect the HDMI cable at both ends and power cycle the TV, AT7T and then the rec'r.

Ive searched this thread and the web with no matches. Any way to have the YPAO on the 667 calibrate to multiple seating locations? My old Onkyo's Audessey allowed calibration fro up to 3 different seating locations.
