Costco, SC-35 NIB $749.99, they sold 250 units in a month.

BB Magnolia, SC-37 NIB $880.00 was great deal
BB Magnolia, SC-35 NIB $780.00, but as low as $680 open box.

These deals are over, so PT doesn't really matter.

I bought a NIB SC-35 for $649.86 at BB Magnolia 2 days ago

got an open box SC-37 for $809 2 months ago from BB Magnolia..replaced an SC-07 I had

going to sell ( or perhaps store) my Yamaha Z7 that I bought at BB Magnolia last year for 80% off retail...to be replaced with SC35

I am hoping the SC-35 sounds like the Sc-37 does..as many here have said

IMO..the SC-37 I have sounds better than the SC-07 I had

specifically..it sounds less bright

Hello,
i´ve got the european model of the SC-35, the LX-73 and one big problem with it.
The amp offeres various Surround and THX modes both for stereo and multi channel sources.
Now for stereo sources if i hit the THX button the amp cycles through all the THX modes availble (7 or so), if i press surround it cycles through all the non-THX modes (also around 7).
For multi channel sources however hitting THX it cycles through only 3 modes (THX CINEMA, THX MUSIC and THX GAMES). Hitting surround simply ´DDDigital´ or ´DTS´ depending on source.
I´ve got a 7.1 setup. Went through the Full MCACC setup.
Either i´m doing something stuppid or something is wrong with the multi channel workings in this amp.
Thanks for your help,
Patrick

I'd say the SC-35 I heard at BB thru B&W's sounds similar to my SC-37.
I really wanted the 37's RF remote since no OSD.

There was a SC-35 for $640 NIB 200 miles from me a few months ago.

Glad I waited on the SC-35 Costco deal, would have been 840 with tax and non-member fee. So when BB went to 880 for a 37, (RF) great deal, drove 40 miles for that one and then no SC-35 or SC-37's within 200 miles for two months.

Heard about the Z-7's for $500 last year at BB.

I have a RXV-3900 with 3 more years on the warranty, waiting to sell on CL or set up yet another home theater room.

Different cities and states, BB prices and deals vary.

I have a 7.2 set up.
The THX modes you're getting from those sources, I get similar selections on my SC-37, but maybe a few more than the SC-35 gets.

Cable TV Stereo source yields:
PLIIx +THX
PL + THX CIN
NEO:6 CIN THX
PLIIx MS + THX
NEO: 6 MUS + THX
PLIIx GM + THX

Cable TV Dolby Digital source yields:
THX SURR EX
THX CINEMA
PLIIx MS + THX
THX MUSIC
DD EX + THX CIN
THX GAMES

Also, Different sources different lists, like if I play a BD it's different choices again, THX Ultra 2 is available.

Page 60 of the SC-35 / 37 manual lists the THX selections

good deal...I am looking forward to the SC35 sounding like my SC37

Magnolia can transfer NIB merchandise from one store to another..no need to consider driving 200 miles

You just pay for the merchandise in your local store...they transfer it and call you to pick up
I have done that a few times

the Yamaha Z7 was $549.86 at BB last year on clearance..if you could find one

I did..:-)...and its beautiful thing since the Yamaha Z series came with a 5 year factory warranty to boot..vs the 2 year on the other models

Magnolia (BB) deals can vary...but you can typically get one store to match another..with NIB merchandise

Open box can really be store specific based on manager discretion

Magnolia rep. and a BB rep. could not transfer the SC-35 once the item was off the dock and in the store, they tried and their crap system would not let them do it, in MICH. anyway. Otherwise I would have had that SC-35 sent close to me and they couldn't do it. So they told me I had to drive the 200 miles. So I didn't get that one.

The SC-37 I paid for here $880 and had to go pick it up 40 miles away.
Same thing could not send it to me close by and if I went there (40 miles away) first and paid for it their it would have been that stores price 1280.00.
The store 40 miles away would not price match the 880 NO way.

Magnolia guy told me they showed 2 - Z7's last Christmas one here in Mich and one in Chicago. There were 2 customers that called and wanted one. The first customer to the store got it here close buy and the 2nd customer drove 300 miles to Chicago to pick up the 2nd one both at, $500.00.

I wish BB would make things easier to pick up these deals, I'd probably buy more of their merchandise, but they don't in MICH anyway.

Interesting

Completely not the situation I have had with Magnolia

They transferred some Vienna Acoustics speakers from Southfield MI Magnolia store to my local Magnolia in Columbus OH

My local guy called the store and did the transaction over the phone....10 days later I picked the speakers up at my local Magnolia

I was actually in MI for a meeting last year and bought a Yamaha Z7 at the Novi Michigan store...it was an open box item with all the accessories

On another note..I just hooked up the SC35 today

I would say it sounds just like the SC37 that I have

So..I would suggest anyone that is/was considering the two....unless you want the Rf remote of the SC37

If there are savings ...buy the SC35

Hello. Does the SC37 come with two remotes? I was thinking I might try to buy the SC37 remote from Pioneer to use with my SC35, since it has an LCD display and the SC35's remote does not. The SC37 remote just looks more comprehensive than the SC35's remote. Would it work? And, does the SC37 remote's display show the various settings or does it serve some other purpose? Thanks.

the SC37 does not come with 2 remotes

It does have an LCD display...as the Sc07 and SC27 did before it

actually I think the SC05 did have an LCD screen as well

On another note..if you buy the remote from Pioneer ..I think you are looking at nearly $200 for the remote

Not worth it IMO

I used a $99 refurb Harmony One. Works fine and I got the bonus of reducing remote clutter.

OK, thanks, I'll reconsider. I just thought that the SC35 remote looked like one which would come with much cheaper receiver and not one which was almost at the top of the line. The remote on my 56XTXi is way nicer!

Well, I guess I'll have to kick someone in the A** next time I'm at BB

Burned out ICE Amps and other interesting dynamics;
surely missed this thread.

I laugh

Probably a silly question and I'm probably over-thinking it.
I won't be home for a few days either so can't experiment just now
Here goes:
I have my htpc ->sc-37->elite plasma via hdmi. All works as it should.

On the other side of the same wall I'm setting up a space for personal pc use, so I connected a monitor, kB/mouse snaked thru the wall to htpc. What's stumping me a bit is sound.

Both sides will never be used simultaneously.
I don't mind using headphones but I don't want them connected to the front of sc-37. Does sound still come out the headphone jack of htpc??
Is there a connection on the back of receiver I can connect headphone to and leave it connected. ?

Would i have to buy cheapo pc speakers and make a zone 2?

well..they had to cut costs somewhere..lol

Years ago I had a 1015tx...and it too had a nicer remote

However...the SC35 is a much nicer sounding receiver than that one was

Officially closed, cause all the SC-37's & 35's & the Euro models have "Burned out ICE Amps", except mine.

With the various pioneer amps, my last amp was a VSX 92 I was having issues with DTV, while watching a movie on HBO or any of the other channels I get sound cut outs. It's only with the direct tv feed. DT came out and said it was Dolby digital packet drop outs? I upgraded to the 37 and it seems to be worse. Anybody have these issues?
I have had this issue with another receiver.....a Yamaha A3000
and it was worse when using the DVR

I discovered it was a Direc TV issue..one of the guys in a Samsung forum clued me in

As it would never happen when watching blu ray

then mysteriously( knock on wood) it has stopped

The audio dropouts with DTV is on there side. I get them randomly with my 82TXS.

Thanks in advance.

Make sure you have your sub setting to "plus" instead of "yes" if the mains are set to large, otherwise it turns if off for certain selections.

Yes this the case here! They even flew a tech out from california and he said there was a update for my 92. I contacted pioneer and they said I would have to send it in. That's when I picked up the 37 and it's worse! They eventually said that they will let me out of my contract I wonder if the new DT DVR's are any different?

Hi All,
After around 5 weeks of painful waiting, I received a call from my local Pioneer Auth Center last Monday (Jan 16 2012) saying that the SC-37 was ready for pickup.

Drop Off: Mid-December
Part Ordered: ICE Amp Power Board (this was what was indicated on the receipt)
Part Backordered until: January 10 2012
Part Received by Service Center: January 16 2012
Time taken for actual Repair: 1 day
Type of Service: Full Labor/Parts Warranty
Out of Pocket Expense: $0

I have verified that the unit turns on, but will setup the unit this weekend for full validation

Lessons Learned
1) If I was to do it again, I would probably have purchased from Auth Retailer, and not Amazon
2) I got lucky with the local auth sevice center, who were more than helpful, and handled all warranty details directly with Pioneer CS (saving me a lot of heartache). I only had to send them my Amazon receipt indicating that the product was new.
3) Have a backup receiver available, even if it is a piece of junk. My repair took 4-5 weeks, and I would pulled my hair out if my faithful Integra DTR9.1 had not stepped in for the Pioneer.

For those of you in the DFW Area, I highly recommend AJ Electronics in Plano. These guys were courteous, professional, and gave me absolutely no grief on warranty services.

everyone with d*, regardless of the avr they have, has those issues...

and have for years... it's a provider issue, not an avr issue...

DTV sux, will never buy it.

Had a DTV rep. tell me "You'll get a great picture even when it's a blizzard or the dish is blocked from the sat. with trees and heavy foliage." What an a******.

I told him to stop lying to prospective customers.
