Studio Ghibli's "Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch" for the PS3 - Page 4

post #91 of 139
I ordered the game and Prima guide a few weeks ago. Chose Amazon over GS because I liked the bonus familiar AMZ offered over the metal case GS offered. Of course now that it’s released I’m checking my order status every hour and lamenting that.rolleyes.gif

Even with Prime shipping, my strategy guide is goint to be two days late. Newegg shipped my game Monday so I should get it by Thursday. Namco has yet to ship my Wizard's Edition...

You could tell from the Gameinformer review that they docked points simply because Namco didn't pay for the review.

On the plus side, Namco is processing my WE order!

Haven't received a shipping confirmation from Namco yet. You'd think they would have all shipped yesterday. My order status online also shows the wrong address despite the phone calls I've made. Not optimistic about my chances even though they've already charged me for my purchase.

My WE just shipped!

I got an email saying it will be shipping soon. It should have shipped already, but at least I wasn't one of the cancelled orders. They have a TERRIBLE online shop. If I can avoid it I will never order from them again.

That is scary, glad mine shipped already. My WE should be here Friday and my normal edition should be here tomorrow.

The article has a link to a useful thread at Namco's forum. In it they point to this link at UPS To check our order status better. If you click track package by reference number and put in your order number, you can see where the game is. A shipping label has been created for me, but UPS is still waiting for the package.

Just checked mine and it said the same thing.

I got an email from Digital River this morning saying my order was processed and it would be shipping shortly. That's a good thing since they already charged me. 5 minutes ago I received the following email:

Dear Customer:

Digital River is very sorry for the problems you had ordering NAMCO BANDAI's Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch™ - Wizard's Edition. Regretfully, we must inform you that because of an error in our ordering system, the available inventory of Wizard's Edition was oversold by mistake. As a result, we were unable to fulfill your order because it was placed after the stock was depleted. You will receive an official order cancellation notice within 24-48 hours.

We want you to know that Digital River does not take this situation lightly. We are implementing process improvements to prevent this issue from happening again and are committed to regaining your trust. While we can't replace your order for the Wizard's Edition, we hope that you will accept this one-time-use coupon code for $20 off (valid through March 31, 2013) on any item from clubNAMCO. Please feel free to shop today for one of your favorite NAMCO BANDAI games or pre-order Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninja Storm 3. We are confident your next experience with us will be a good one.

I sent them a big fat FFFFFFffffffffffuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu! email. I checked the UPS link, tracked by reference number, and entered my order number- nothing.

Man, that's horrific. Sorry to hear you are one of the ones to get screwed over. I guess none of us are home free until it is actually in our hands. Digital River and Namco/Bandai together have formed one of the worst online retail sites on the internet.

The Namco forum is over run with horror stories like yours. NeoGAF has people waiting on the phone for over an hour trying to talk to a customer service rep. How stupid can they be by not stocking up for this second sale, and for not stopping sales once they sold out?

~~~
On a positive note, the game itself is a bone fide hit. It is currently #3 on Amazon's best seller list, which makes me think that the only reason it is not #1 (over Far Cry 3 for both HD systems) is because they are completely sold out. Even the official guide is out of stock.
Far Cry 3 is the Goldbox Deal of the Day. It was $34.95
That is the only reason Ni No Kuni isn't #1
I really don't care that they don't have it. My problem is that it might still come. Digital River is telling people that received the cancellation message that their order is still on the way.
I just want to know so I can run to Bestbuy or get the digital copy.
I'm not even into RPGs in general but at least I'm very glad their is a demo so I can try it out. Way to many people praising this game left and right for me to not try out the demo.
Not only are people hearing that the cancellations have been called off, some are saying that the Wizard Edition was being made available today for order again!
So bizarre.
EDIT: I just checked and sure enough the Wizard's Edition is back up for sale at Namco's store. Then why are they giving out $20 credit to people whose orders they cancelled, and can they spend that $20 on a re-purchase?
Sooooo bizarre.
Cool, UPS says they have my package in Nashville and it will be delivered on Monday. As long as it is out of the hands of Digital River I am good to go.
post #108 of 139
Mine is in Orlando and will be delivered tomorrow! I'll post pics of my Ni No Kuni haul once it arrives.
Well Amazon finally shipped the game today, but no love on the Prima Guide.mad.gif I think next time I’ll stick to Game Stop if it’s a game I’m really looking forward to playing right away.frown.gif
post #110 of 139
I put almost 8 hours into the game today, the last game to hook me like this was Xenoblade. Not sure which one will win out for my favorite RPG this gen now... (going in I thought Xenoblade was safe, now, not so much)
Got the shipping confirmation e-mail for my Wizard's Edition from Namco. I went with regulary delivery, and it's currently scheduled to arrive on the 31st. I can wait; I'm just glad it shipped.
The Wizard Edition is smaller and lighter than I thought it would be.
post #113 of 139
My Std edition from Amazon is at my house according to Amz tracking, and I’ve received the e-mail for my promo code for the Amz bonus familiar. But no change in the Prima guide status. But at least I’ll get to start playing this weekend biggrin.gif
NB screwed up the release of Demon Souls too, their logistics are horrible.
A free strategy guide? That's no replacement for the Wizard's Book.
If Namco wants to fix this for those whose orders were canceled, they would simply authorize another round of printing and give people a time table as to when they could order. It's crazy because people are lined up willing to throw money at them for this promotion. Most companies bend over backwards to accommodate demand.
Put the whole Digital River nonsense behind me and got the digital download off the PSN last night. This game is beautiful. I've only put in about 6 hours since I'm tying to finish up P4G. This story really grabs you hard and pulls you in quickly. It promises to be a good one.
I will say this- having a hard copy of the Wizard's Companion would definitely be helpful.
post #118 of 139
I have had no desire to open up my WE for a physical book, the digital one in game loads quickly and it is very fast to find what you need.
I have about 20 hours logged now, I really am hooked. I got a ship not long ago and I have explored about 1/2 the world map. I really hope there is more to explore later, because the world map is kinda small.
I am also put off by how little of the game is voiced. Some scenes will have walls of text and one random line will be voiced.
I will say, the game is just stunning to look at, you can tell that the graphics will hold up just as well as Wind Waker has. It truly does look like a Ghibli film in motion. I really hope that Level 5 works with Studio Ghibli again next gen, maybe go for a darker world like Mononoke instead...
post #119 of 139
I have the same concern with text versus voice acting. I almost wondered if I'd missed a setting somewhere.
post #120 of 139
"I am also put off by how little of the game is voiced. Some scenes will have walls of text and one random line will be voiced."
What? Nooooo! This is exactly why I didn't play Lost Odyssey. It was very 360 in it's presentation, until you went to a town and talked to people. Then it felt like a PS2 game. It didn't even cross my mind that they could have text only conversations in this game. These same guys did Dragon Quest 8 which was fully voice acted on the PS2, and they even have tons of voice work in their Layton games on the DS.
I love a solid JRPG, but the current generation put the nail in my desire to read walls of text in order to play one. Blame Mass Effect. Ridiculous amounts of dialog, every word of which is voiced. Anything less is just archaic.
