Thanks!

It did not for me. I'm using a Pioneer 1120 and it still won't work through the receiver.

Thats weird. I watch Directv's 3D channels through my Pioneer 520. I have the 3D adapter between the TV and receiver.

I'm sure it would work fine with the adapter. Apparently DirectTV hardcoded the EDIDs that are valid, and the only Mits is for the adapter. They would theoretically be able to easily fix it by updating their software.

I talked to Gina at the fulfillment center a couple of weeks ago and she said the first batch was shipping, so it sounds like their on the ball. Kind of ironic that their shipping and now the 12.06 firmware upgrade releases at the same time. Maybe they could keep the converter boxes and send us an extra set of glasses

I just double check to ensure i didnt receive such an email. I was expecting to thus my surprise when it arrived. Extra set of glasses would be nice. Guess you can always sell the converter and purchase additional glasses. Im hoping all my devices work without the need of a converter. DTV, PS3 & BluRay 3D player (yeah i know the PS3 plays 3D but bought the player before the update and perfer to use that over the PS3 plus a TON of online apps)

Guess I'll just sport my new look.

Time to set a 3-D source buddy
Recommended a PS3 allowing for both 3d video and games

FANTASTIC!!! Supports all 1.4a formats!

Man, who would have guessed this would hit before the donkey's running the starter kit promotion would deliver those starter kit boxes...

Now i have to hook it all back up again. I am also still on the 12.05 upgrade but did receieve this upgrade a day after getting the TV online.

So... everyone... its on its way

Out of curiosity what were your guys approval numbers? Mine was in the 600's and it showed I was approved on 10/19 and received a 2nd approved email on 11/3.
212 for me. Still haven't received mine yet. ;(
post #2739 of 8788
1262 here. Didn't receive my 3D Kit yet or a tracking number either. Mailed out the form on 10/25, got approval on 10/29 and I received the 11/3 e-mail that many of us reported earlier.

What state are you guys in (I'm in NY)?

I'm planning on putting the center channel speaker under the TV (although ideally I'd love to place it above it).

I think it would look awkward on top of the TV itself

That's the stand that I use for my WD-73838. it's decent

Apparently DirectTV hardcoded the EDIDs so if you add a 3D compatible AVR into the mix, the DTV box doesn't get the correct EDID and tells you your TV isn't 3D compatible

If you're running all your gear through a 3D compatible AVR, please let us know if DTV works without the need for the converter, that would be outstanding

I'll be using it on the 65738, so it should fit nicely. I plan to put the center channel on the shelf under the TV. Hopefully everything fits on the shelves, some of the amazon reviews suggest that space is tight on the shelves.

I posed this question within this thread.. Im currently running a Onkyo ht-rc160 which isnt 3d compatible. I was going to set it up anyway and see what happens. If it doesnt work, was going to upgrade my AVR

I purchased this TV stand

I had a previous stand supporting my 42" along with towers. This peice is great for the price, supports the 65838 and blends in nicely with my existing towers

PS..I just noticed my post count isnt growing with each post.. I should be well past 14 LOL

Got mine today. Number 226. Schweet!

Anyone with a 60" able to make a measurement for me? I would like to know how tall the flat back rises before it starts to angle towards the screen.
Looks like the Mitsubishi 3d kits are shipping from Georgia
post #2751 of 8788
Got my kit today as well. No shipping notice. This and the 12.06 upgrade tomorrow! Now if I only could get my 73738's vertical geometry looking better. Sigh. May be time to call in the service tech to see what they recommend.
I think I have decided on the 73-738 but have one last concern. I will need for the tv to sit on top of a 32" high cabinet. The couch is about 12 feet from the cabinet, and if I am measuring correctly my eye-level when sitting on the couch is around 45" off the floor. I know it isn't the ideal situation, but does anyone else have a similar situation where the tv sits higher than it should and if so how does it affect your viewing. Thanks for any and all opinions.

I gotta say wow. Just watched a little of the 3d demo disc and it looks great. No crosstalk whatsoever. Can't wait to ditch the adapter. :-D

dja2k

I ordered my 65738 on 10/2, with matching stand, 1399 with hdmi and shipping included which I thought was a pretty good deal. I think it is a couple hundred more now.

With the price of the 82838 now in the $2500 range, its getting hard to keep my credit card in my pocket. But before I do has anyone upgraded from a Samsung ##A750 series LED DLP? I have the 67'" and I think its one of the best tv's I've seen. Would definitely like the extra 15". Would be using it with a PS3, Xbox 360, Time Warner HD cable, and a Pioneer Elite SC-05. Not even looking into the 738 series. For me the sound bar would come in handy since I hate powering up my whole system just to watch cable tv even if it is in HD. Thanks
