2010 Mitsubishi 3D DLP Owners Thread (738/838 series) - Page 151

@chris431, i clicked on the ultra clear link you provided and i scrolled down to the bottom of the page and it says in small text: "Please Note: These high performance 3D Glasses are fully compatible with Samsung 3D Ready LED televisions or with the Mitsubishi 3D Adapter kit (3DC-1000) 3D glasses pack (a Mitsubishi 3D transmitter is required to use these glasses with a Mitsubishi 3D Ready Television)." Where do i get this transmitter they speak of? or is it built into the 2010 models?

Strange. I retried the link I posted (post 4499) and it went to the correct page for their DLP Glasses. It did not contain the disclaimer you note which is provided on the page for the Ultra Clear emitter based glasses (not DLP). Retry the link. Otherwise, visit the top unadvertised page listed in this Google search. You do not need an emitter for DLP Link glasses (providing additional cost savings).

The page for the DLP Link glasses states, at the bottom:

Please Note: These high performance 3D Glasses are fully compatible with any DLP Link Based setup. DLP Link Products include most 3D Ready Projectors & many DLP televisions. No transmitter is needed as DLP Link devices already put off a 3D signal for the Ultra-Clear DLP link 3D Shutter glasses to decode.

These high performance DLP Link 3D Glasses also work perfectly with DLP 3D Ready televisions that put off a DLP link signal however ***Please Note you cannot use these glasses at the same time as IR Based glasses with these televisions as they start out on the opposite eye. You can use one or the other and it will work perfectly however not both at the same time.

Haha. You edited out your initial response. haha. I tested it for dynamic links but it's not that (Google's link to the DLP version is also the same as that which I posted). Not sure what happened. I'll report back once I've tried them out.

whatever text you use, make sure at minimum you view it at a distance of at least 2 meters.

theres no point judging something at close up which will certainly look poor.

I previously visited that link to confirm that the text you posted was associated with the emitter version of the glasses. Those are the IR emitter glasses, not the DLP glasses.

Right. Out of focus text caused by a faulty engine is obvious from 10 feet out (assuming good but not 20/20 vision). It's also noticeable b/c the focus changes over the screen (some sections of the screen are likely to be focused while other sections are not).

Suggested test...unplug the hub/switch, and only plug your TV into the DMZ port. Test and see if it resolves...if so, here are some suggestions:

Leave only the TV on the DMZ port (still, not really a great idea) and put a switch between the other components and the trust (green) port.

Or put a simple router between the DMZ port (orange) and your components and setup that router with its own DMZ pointing to your TV's IP address. This method sees the in-between router as one address on the smoothwall's DMZ, and you are just passing traffic through to the ISP...but you are still controlling three components through it, and one of those is wide open (your TV).

If you try the test and it doesn't resolve, I am out of helpful ideas.

Thanks for the ideas but this isn't a SOHO firewall. It's a dedicated appliance that is hooked into two different switch fabrics. One for my PCs and one for my NET ready A/V gear.

If it was obvious to you from 10' away, I'm probably ok. I used the small text in the disclaimer at the bottom of the screen during a Vonage commercial. It wasn't dull and seemed consistent. I assume if you have to strain to see it you probably don't have the issue(but then again that's not computer font).

3d movies streamed via Vudu on the PS3 can now be viewed as a result of an app update.
The Mits' Vudu app is still showing the non-support dialogue (& my Mits has been online all day in case any app updates have been pushed).

My first home 3d experience. I'll wait to comment until I can make a complete post along with pictures to ensure there isn't something wrong with my Mits.

I'm pretty new to this forum. Currently have a RP Sony 70XBR2. Have been very happy with it until the Optical Block failed this past week. Looking at options....
Have any of you previously owned a Sony SXRD? How would you compare PQ to the 73838?
I spent about an hour today with the 75" Laservue and was very underwhelmed. Thought the picture was quite soft in spite of all the different settings I tried.
But Ultimate has the 73838 for $1900 which seems like a very good price. Not displayed where I can really evaluate it well.

Another option is to get the optical block rebuilt on the Sony.

Any thoughts would be appreciated

thanks in advance

May be dumb questions, but I just got my 3D starter pack to go with my 65838 (12.06 firmware) and wanted to make sure I wasn't doing something wrong.

My only source device at the moment is my Tivo HD and the only 3D channel I get is ESPN 3D (called Comcast and they activated it). The ESPN logo appears twice (on top and bottom of the screen), but since there is no programming scheduled for a few days I have no way to confirm it is all working. When I set the TV's 3D mode to Top/Bottom, the ESPN logo appears as one image.

1) Other than the red light on top of there IR emitter when a 3D source is connected, should any other lights be coming from the IR emitter? Are there any ways to confirm that your glasses are synced up with IR emitter other than actually seeing a proper 3D image?

2) Should the ESPN logo that appears when there is no programming on ESPN 3D appear in 3D if everything is setup correctly? It doesn't look any different to me with or without the glasses when the TV's 3D mode is set to Top/Bottom? The IR emitter is activated and has red button on top lit up.

Thanks in advance for the help.

The three LEDs on the front of the emitter are infra-red and so invisible to the human eye... you can see some faint flickering of the center one if you look through a camcorder viewfinder.

The logo displaying on my comcast espn3d right now, red swirling background, ESPN3D logo atop, white on black "Lakers vs Nuggets" reminder in the center, black on red 24/6 programming starts Feb 14th shows a very little depth except when the top and bottom boxes swivel every 10 seconds or so, but it is definitely 3D... make sure your glasses are turned on and try switching your "Standard/Reverse" setting if necessary.

There are no specific 3D cables: "high-speed" is what you are looking for

I got a floor model 65638 for $800 after tax at Paul's TV today. I want the warranty for this but the Warrantech company they offer for a 5-year replacement plan doesn't instill any confidence whatsoever:

http://www.*******************.com/h...arrantech.html

(from plasma tv buying guide.com, don't know why they're banned)

While I am in need of some peace of mind after buying a floor model, I don't know if a warranty is going to give me that... First I'll have to pay multiple hundreds for the plan, and then I MAY have to pay additional fees if/when the warranty services are required, but how would I know how much those could wind up being?

As someone who doesn't like buying warranties, would I be safer off settling on an HD66 teamed with a 3D-XL instead? Or would buying a truly new Mitsu be more advisable?

Another thing: they originally tried to sell me a Monster power strip (says AV700 on initial receipt) for $80, claiming it was worth $100 or $130 or something on Amazon. I checked the site just now and I can't find the exact match- but I think it's #2 here, which is priced at $19, regular $59.

And prior to purchase, I was requesting they hold the TV overnight with a down payment of about half the purchase price. The woman supervisor told me in this holier-than-thou tone that she knew and I was completely clueless to how significant this deal was. She said, "I know, you don't. This is priced to move. New models are coming out and Mitsubishi is absorbing a lot of the losses for this new program to quickly get rid of last year's floor models. So we are serious about selling it." Should I have told her about the deals I was seeing for BRAND NEW 60638's that came with free 3D starter kits ($400 value) for less than the price of this floor model 65638 bare?

chris431..
How did those DLP glasses work out for you ?
I've seen those online, thinking about getting a couple of pairs.

Goto Comcast On Demand. Scroll down to 3D. There is plenty of both free and pay 3D stuff available including older ESPN productions.

I recently viewed 3D content sent from my Samsung BDP6900 to my Samsung UN46C8000 LED 3D tv using a 2 yr old 1.3 HDMI cable and had no issues. The 3D looks fantastic...

Personally I don't believe the hype about "3D" HDMI cables, unless you are trying to utilize the audio return channel capability in your specific setup, in which case you would NEED a 1.4 HDMI cable.
i also am using a 1.3 2 year old hdmi cable from monoprice connected to a onkyo 608 and mitsubishi 73838 dlp tv and i have no problem with audio or vidio works perfect with 3d bluray dvd movies

Mods, if this inappropriate to ask, please feel free to edit, or ask people to PM me.

Been shopping around online for a 73838 for a few weeks, but unable to match the Paul's TV deal from a couple months ago. Any suggestions on best price to buy this online right now?
I agree with the above.

If you're not near a major metropolitan area, where are all these great deals on the 65 and 73 738s and 838s from places that ship free or at a cost that doesn't jack them back up to retail? I just am not finding them.

I can't see how this is "price talk" with re: to the question above. It's totally unrelated and has no conflicts with AVS's product line. This thread is littered with price talk everywhere. I'm just looking some advice.
I am thinking about buying the Mitsu WD-73738 and using the ViewSonic PGD-150 Active Stereographic 3D Shutter Glasses, is there any steps I would have to take to get it to work? Do I have to buy anything else?

With the new firmware upgrade would I still need the adapter?

Thanks.
