What to do with Lights? Help !

I am ready to finish off my home theater room; i have a few concerns.
The particulars:

Room is 20 x 22 x 10ft high on poured concrete.
HT room was built with double stud framing, but ceiling has contact to above floor joists. Room has one layer of 1/2 sheetrock
8 low voltage cans penetrate ceiling.

My thoughts were
1) to remove cans from ceiling and either put into a perimeter soffet or into a coffered ceiling.
2) Add another layer of sheetrock with green glue

Does either of these ideas make sense?

All suggestions greatly appreciated

Both ideas are steps that will improve sound containment. If sound containment is a critical element of your room construction you may be better off ripping down the ceiling and adding isolation clips and channel and checking that the ceiling is stuffed with some insulation. Then re-install 2 layers of rock with the GG. The materials to redo that first layer of drywall on the ceiling will be less than $150.

Last steps would be to add the layer to the walls. Be sure to build the perimeter soffit inside a drywalled room.

If you have access above the ceiling, you could also build some backer boxes over the fixtures.

Unfortunately, this room is a basement, with a finished floor above the ceiling
