Connect Mitsubishi 55" HDTV to laptop

I am going nuts trying to connect my Mitsubishi WS 55315 HDTV to my laptop. I am using VGA output-DVI input, my laptop has NVIDIA and my HDTV manual says it cannot take PC input through the DVI input. But other people in the forum have managed to do this. I have tried decoding what people are talking about but cant seem to understand what is wrong. The problems:
1. When I connect my laptop to TV, the laptop shows that a TV is connected to it, but the TV doesnt recognize any input.
2. When I push Fn+F8, the laptop says, "presentation mode is disabled."
3. I tried downloading powerstrip and changing the parameters, but see no change.
Please help.

And my Nvidia component is Quadro NVS 160M

Thanks. I have a Dell Latitude 6400 (Intel Dual core processor). Will post in the computer forum too. I thought that my TV might be the main problem since my computer recognizes the TV.
