Final Fantasy V is all I want...

might bite the bullet... Simpsons... FFV

Sony has done a great job offering a great value for the cost of Plus membership. If you have a PSP, it's an even better deal. For example here, Final Fantasy V will work on the PSP as well. Nice!

Support for Move in HotDIII? Since they added Move to Sega Bass Fishing of all things, I'm assuming the DC-era games will get Move where appropriate. They keep this up and I'll have my Dreamcast (virtually) back before years end. C'mon Crazy Taxi 2!

Deus Ex trial is right on time as I've been curious about that game. Same with Far Cry 2.

Yeah, House of the Dead III will use the Move. I told my daughter it was being released and she started jumping up and down screaming for joy. I can't tell you how bizarre it is to me that it is her favorite game of all time.

Two weeks ago, I dropped her and a friend off at Speed Zone (a go-kart facility) for the afternoon and they spent at least two hours playing through the entire arcade game a few times before I said it was time to go home. It's so bizarre.

HOTDIII -- thats not the Overkill version is it?

I have it for Wii and have not been able to play it .. my wife always freaks out abou thte language --- would love it in HD though and maybe headphones...

Is House of the Dead III a rail shooter, and what is its price expected to be? Has it been announced?

The EU blog has the discounts listed (in Euros or GBP), but not the actual prices! I would estimate $9.99- $6.99 w/discount, maybe a bit less.

HotD III isn't the one with profanities. That's HotD Overkill.

HotD III is from the arcade and comes out in February while HotD IV (also from the arcade) comes out on the PSN a bit later. Overkill is the HD port that's sold in stores.

Sweet, I just had to sign up for PSN+ for the Cloud service since I traded in my old phat console and needed a way to transfer over my copy-protected game saves. I will definitely be downloading FF V (I will obviously download all of the free ones) but FF V is pretty sweet. This is my first time using PSN+, but if I am correct, since these are offered as free games for PSN+ subscribers, if I decide to not renew next year then I lose access to the free games correct?

That is correct. If your subscription ends and you try to start one of the free games a message comes up that states you need PS+ to play it. I let me subscription lapse at the end of December. The games are still on my system as I'll eventually subscribe again.

Any games you buy with a PS+ discount are yours to play. Even if your subscription ends.

Several months ago, I let my subscription lapse for 3 days, before resubscribing. After resubscribing, I lost access to all games that were no longer available for free. I emailed customer support because I thought it was an error, and I was informed that if my PS+ subscription lapses for any period of time, even a single minute, that access will be lost to all previously downloaded free PS+ content, with the exception of anything that can still be downloaded for free.

"even a single minute, that access will be lost to all previously downloaded free PS+ content"

You should be able to go in to your download history and redownload the title, in effect renewing the license key to expire on your new subscription expiration date instead of the old expiration. At least that is how I understood it.

"Once downloaded, the games are yours to keep and play as long as you are a member of PlayStation Plus. If your subscription lapses and then you re-subscribe, the games you have already downloaded will reactivate, so you still have access to them. Additionally, if you delete one of the titles from your PS3, but decide you want to get it back, then you can re-download from the PlayStation Plus section of the PSN Store if the game is still there, or, if the game has expired from the PlayStation Plus section of the PSN Store, you can simply search for it on PS Store and download it again at no extra cost."

Either the CSR you talked to was a nub, or we were blatantly lied to.

It is now your job to go redownload a title and come back with the results.

House for Dead III will be $6.99 for non-Plus people, $4.89 (with 30% discount) for Plus members--but only for two weeks:

Sub $5.00 is a "sold" for this game, though still gonna run the demo first. Thanks for the heads-up.

The games aren't in my download list, which is odd, because I have items dating back to 2006 before I ever enrolled in PS+. I don't remember all of them, but MediEvil, for example, is one of them. If I find it in the PS store, it has an icon on it similar to the red bag on items that I have access to, but the bag is blue on this one. Whenever I run across other titles that I've lost access to, they also have the blue bag icon on them. If I try to download them, I only have the "Buy Now" option, which tries to charge me.

The first time I ran the titles after renewing my subscription after the 3-day lapse, if they were still free, it asked if I wanted to reactivate them, which worked fine. If they weren't free, it opened the PS store page for that title, with the "Buy Now" option.

So the answer is that we were blatantly lied to as to how the service operates. Awesome. Thanks again Sony. I let my subscription lapse, and this bit of information makes it certain that I won't be suckered in to that PS+ crap again.

I think he needs to call back and refer them to the link you posted. Sony CS can't refuse his request to reactivate all of his PS+ items if he has become a member again.
And I think that it should just work as they told us it does in the first place. At no point should he have to call Sony about this.

I know, I know, expecting a PS+ feature to work as advertised really is just too much, isn't it? I mean, how many other PS+ features were broken as all hell again?
I rejoined PS+ on Sunday about two months after it lapsed. Every game, or Qore episode that I tried from my previous subscription worked just fine as it is supposed to.

So, it DID work "as advertised" for me.

Can I get an example of a game that didn't work for dsDoan? If I have it, I'll give it a shot to see if that specific game works for me. I'm curious.
Don't feed the troll.
Not to inadvertnantly feed the troll

The ONLY time I have ever found that something was unavailable for re-downloading whether it be from my standard PSN downloads or from my PSN+ downloads if my subscription lapsed was if the title was pulled ENTIRELY from the storefront.

For example Diner Dash used to be a PSN title for download. It got pulled from the store and any link to it was also gone, even from the downloads history under account mgmt.

Otherwise, I have never had any failure for reactivation even across multiple PS3's. What really burns me now is the fact that I am limited to only 2 consoles active now... with 4 active in the house +1 using CFW, I have no idea how I'm gonna juggle who wants to play Critter Crunch on which console now w/o adding another full user account.
If only Sony had a way to authorize a PS3 in every room using one account. Problem is people will find work arounds for any measure they put in place to allow them to share games.
Yes, that whole two console thing is nuts. So now I can't have a Mini on my two PS3s and my PSP. So now if I were to buy a Vita, I have to repurchase any games I want on more than two Sony systems? Nuts.

Sony's master plan revealed.

Babel: The King of the Blocks
Lilo & Stitch
Magic: The Gathering - Duels of the Planeswalkers
Medievil
Me Monstar: Hear Me Roar
Streets of Rage 2
The 2D Adventures of Rotating Octopus Character

I believe these were from June/July'ish. There may be others, but that's all I could come up with. Each of these titles has a blue bag icon, showing that I once owned them, but I'm charged if I try to download them.

I tried finding my old email, but I probably deleted it. I am going to try another:
"Thanks for submitting your question. Use this reference number for follow up: #XXXXXX-XXXXXX

Your question will be responded to within the next 1 - 8 Hours"

We'll see.
