Is there no way to check plus membership status without a playstation device?

I think you can check it on the PSN web store.

The best you can do on the web store is to log in, go to Account, then Transaction History, and then find the day you signed up for the service and count out the 1 or 3 or 12 or 15 month service coverage you have from that point to today. They should have a simple way to do it, even if it is just hovering the mouse over the Plus sign on the home page to see the expiration date.

Anyone that has been skeptical of getting plus really should jump on it. I love the deals, I just bought Hot Shots golf because my GF had fun playing it with me. The discounts are crazy, and I am excited to see what is coming each week.

My PS3 keeps turning on by itself, I think it's PS+ related. How do I turn this off ?

One time I turned it on, and it had downloaded some God of War beta thing. I don't want it to randomly download stuff. There has to be a way to turn that off, right ?

yes, there are some options in system settings.
Why not hit the switch in the back to turn it completely off? Pulling the plug off is another way. We'll that's a couple of ways.

Here's a possible third way. Under settings, go to system settings and then under Automatic Update, choose off. It doesn't mention betas but that might hopefully do the trick.

Go to system settings, auto update (first in the list), and then uncheck the option to download recommended demos. Updates, firmware, and trophy sync I'd keep on because it's pretty convenient. If you set it for 6 in the morning or whenever you're not going to use the system, you'll never know it's happening.
Plus does the updates daily or sync to server. I set mine for 3 am I think it's for your saves that allows you not to use up all your hard drive space

cool. I'll try to do that the next time I have it on.

I really wish we got the stuff Europe got this week. I would have loved to get Sleeping Dogs for free.

It's good to know how important us NA gamers are to sony.

I actually prefer getting more of the smaller games like closure. Those I can actually find the time to beat. Most of the bigger games EU has gotten than NA hasn't are huge games like RDR and Sleeping Dogs....it's like darksiders, cool game and all, but I'll never find the time for it.
I get what you're saying there. I guess I don't really need big games right now with the games coming out next month, but I would love to know that we are all getting the same stuff.

I feel the same way. Unless it's a AAA title high on my wish list, I'd rather play games I deemed worth spending money on than sinking a lot of time into a game I would have never considered playing (e.g., Darksiders, Sleeping Dogs) if it weren't free.
PSN titles on the other hand provide a nice break between long RPG campaigns, they are quick to download, and don't hog up a lot of space on my smallish HDD if I don't get around to them right away.

As far as the grass is greener concerns (i.e., EU gets better stuff), I say, so what? EU is EU. Sony never promised every region would get the same stuff. Be thankful you're not in Asia. I hear the selection is even worse there, although that might be more of a matter of taste and cultural differences.

At any rate, I don't feel I'm getting less value from my Plus membership. If I really wanted what EU is getting, I'd sign up for an EU Plus membership.

Another game I've played and beaten already. frown.gif

But it's a really solid game, once you get past the absolutely ridiculous story.

There's more truth to that than I'd like to admit. It certainly makes me wary of keeping a backlog.

This PS Plus thing has turned out to be a sham. They started it out strong to sucker people in, and now they give out nothing but crap. No renewal for me.

I agree that we've had several weeks of mediocre to bad games, but I've heard nothing but good things about Vanquish.
Borderlands, Resident Evil V, Super Street Fighter IV arcade edition, Bioshock 2, Rochard, Quantum Conundrum, Dungeon Defenders, Darksiders--I guess it's all a matter of taste (and an issue if you have the games already), but I don't consider the above mediocre to bad (just old, some of them). Sure, they're not Red Dead Redemption, but what is? Though I'll grant you there have been a few WTF? PSN titles thrown at us over the months along with those.
Megaman Maverick Hunter X should look good on the OLED screen. Now if only Sony would kick us down some PS1 classics. Like Jumping Flash or Jet Motto.

...and if a gamer isn't taking advantage of the 50% - 75% exclusive discounts on games that are yours to keep, then maybe PS+ really isn't for him. This service easily pays for itself for those who regularly purchase stuff. Once the discount total reaches $50 in that 12-15 month period, everything after that is icing on the cake as all the extras then become literally free.

In the past, I was thinking about rather or not I should spend money on that Mega Man game but hey, now I don't have to think anymore.
