EDIT: After doing the math I bit the bullet and signed up for PS+. Now that it seems like we'll get content and offers more often than once a month, it is something I think will pay for itself. I'm not even all that interested in some of the popular features like auto-patching, but it's nice to have I suppose. For me it comes down to cost savings more than anything, and perhaps a few cool betas.
It costs $3.33 a month, and by signing up I instantly saved on purchases I was going to make regardless. I'm already ahead of this month's savings quota: the Hamsterball discount, the free MahJong DLC and the Fat Princess DLC discount. I figure with other stuff down the line I'll come out ahead over the 15 months. If not, I won't sign up next time.
Also, I honestly don't mind supporting a decent service in part because Sony has not charged us to play games online, which is a concept I hate on principal alone. I like that my entire gaming catalog won't be ruined by not signing up again. Yes, I may lose access to a few "free" games (I can simply by them individually if that happens), but I'm not forced to subscribe to PS+ year after year with the threat of losing access to a major function of most of my entire library.

So is the free 3 month bonus offer still going? I thought I read somewhere it was only until July 6. Also, in addition to these new items, are the other freebees still available from last week, including the WipeOut HD, and the free DLC for Magic Orbz, Cuboid, etc.?
PS your listing of PS+ content for this week missed the all important (for my girlfriend and her daughter, anyway):
TikGames/Creat Studios PlayStation Plus Sale
Hamsterball (PlayStation Plus price $3.99, original price $9.99)
