Media Browser - Missing Covers?

Thread Starter
Hi all,
I am using Media Browser 2.2.3 with the Vanilla theme set to cover flow. In one of the sub folders (the one with the most movies), a problem just started popping up: whenever I add a movie, the cover is not shown, it's just an empty space. When the movie is selected, it shows up, except for one, on which it's permanently gone.
The folder.jpg exists in the movies folder.
Has anybody else seen this? Any solution?
Thanks a lot for any help with this!

I am having more success with media center master and others have reported the same. So, far the progarm is free and once downloaded and installed and configured with your video file location when it is started it will bring up a list of your videos. Set the mode for movie, TV or adult. Right click the title and click on fetch metadata. It will download all to your folder.

He's saying that the data and art is already downloaded in each folder, but MB does not display the cover(folder.jpg).

My question: have you tried a different theme or the default?

I would suggest Costco_buyer switch to the diamond theme. If that does not solve the problem upgrade media browser to 2.2.5. If that does not resolve the problem use media center master. Then please post and let us know what worked.

If you have a large library, it takes a while for MediaBrowser to cache all the images.

Not sure why one will not show up, I would delete out all metadate and refetch it.

I was also seeing this slow metadata problem in media browser and it was not putting the .jpg in movie folders. The combination of Media Center Master metadata, diamond theme and media browser 2.2.4 is working for me.

I saw this issue with 2.2.3 as well but I haven't seen it with 2.2.4 or 2.2.5 (the current version). I also use the Diamond theme.

I had this issue and its not what you think it is well not at least if its what I had go wrong. Some of the plugins for media browser cause really bad issues. Check to see which ones you are using and temporarily uninstall them one by one. I am betting one of them is causing this. I had to uninstall them myself. I wrote a thread about it.

Thanks for all the replies!
This is really weird:
I switched themes: no change.
I installed MB 2.3.5: no change.
I uninstalled "high Q thumbnails": got all covers to show up again, except one.

Then I went in and edited the folder.jpg for the missing one a little bit (some cropping). No change, it does not show up in cover flow. But when I click ok on it, it enters the movie details screen, and there, it shows the OLD (uncropped) "folders.jpg" image. Where does MB store these images? It appears it's cache somehow does not get updated.

But yes, uninstalling HQT did help somewhat!

One additional question, with MB 2.3.5, I do not get the Vanilla theme anymore. Even the instructions here: http://www.throgsoft.com/installation/default.php
did not help (Vanilla just does not show up as an option). Any ideas?

Thanks a lot again, you guys have really helped me here!

Media Browser 2.2.5 seems quite buggy to me as well, although it may be that themes may need to be updated to fix the current crop of problems.

Refer to this thread page 28:

My understanding is that Vanilla is dead and being replaced with Simplicity.

I'm using Simplicity with the sub-theme set to black instead of the blue and I like it.

When changing images it's a good idea to clear Media Browser's cache. With the latest version it's really easy. Launch the config app outside of WMC. Go to the advanced options and one of the tabs is for clearing the various cache files and images.

I'll chime in and say that I've been having lots of metadata/fanart/cover problems with 2.2.5 as well. Sometimes all of it disappears and I'm forced to do an "Update Library" to get it all back, even though all of it is stored locally in each video's directory. IOW, mediabrowser keeps forgetting that it exists. DOH!

I'm also using the Diamond theme...

On another note, there is a severe shortage of worthwhile themes for MB. What gives?!

Here is the thread I made about this:

You gotta clear the cache though as was suggested above.
