I have studied the Panasonics quite a bit and I am really leaning that direction. I have grown tired of Samsung ignoring the problem.

I just bought a panny plasma and I am very happy with the picture quality. I learned a hard lesson about Image Retention because I am not an experienced plasma owner but thankfully it was not permanent. If motion smoothing is something you want in a TV I would say shop around. There are other TV's that have great picture and great motion.

Yeah I think that will be my next purchase but I will have to wait a while for that one. Definitely be careful with screen burn, plasmas are bad for it. Panasonic has definitely taken the gold medal for quality over the past few years.

EDIT: You guys are never gonna believe this. Everything connected to my Samsung TV with an HDMI cable is starting to flicker. I am getting random lines in the picture with both my XBOX 360 and my Bluray player. Is this seriously the best Samsung can do? Guess who is getting balled out on the phone immediately?!?!?

Just a follow-up to the AMP issue. After nearly 2 months with Samsung and nearly a month without any replies I was finally told that my TV was in "specifications" regarding the bleeding and stuck pixels. This is typical for Samsung for a reply as I have seen posted on the internet. What are the "specifications"?

As far as the AMP, the suggestion was to turn game mode on! Typical stupid answer as game mode does turn off all of the processing, but reduces the resolution and clarity significantly.v If you look at other Samsung model postings, you will see this issue extends across many models of their TV's.

It took a threat of calling the warranty in breach by failing to call or e-mail me back. The comment i received was that a response had been sent. No e-mails or voice mails from Samsung until I sent the last notice to both the person working the issue and another to the office of the president.

It appears that nothing is going to get done to fix the AMP. It's something you have to live with or buy another TV.

That sucks Cibo. It's kinda shameful that a high caliber company such as Samsung has this many problems. I am amazed at the AMP problems. I know most TVs that have frame interpolation experience a little flicker and such, but these are the worst I have ever seen. My TV is getting worse with the HDMI problems. I received an email from Samsung that has me worried. It turns out my issue is not as "cut-and-dry" as it may appear. Apparently it needs special evaluation. Scary!!!
Searching a bunch of blogs, I found something interesting. Someone suggested that you need to turn on the AMP, go to custom and set both sliders to 0. The comment was that you had to turn it on to turn it off.

I tried it last last night. Watched some live basketball and football and it seemed to me to be a bit better than using clear.

Well I got a reply from Samsung to turn off the new SyncPlus feature in the Smart Hub. As soon as I did, my problem went away completely. I guess I will know more about this issue on Monday.
SyncPlus will also cause issues with 1080P 60fps signals...screen will have a vertical "shake" and random horizontal line noise. This application came down with firmware 1022 on ES6500-ES7100 models.

Make sure you also uncheck the agreement for the terms and conditions with SyncPlus.
Apparently it causes issues with 24fps as well. I was shocked to find this out. You would think Samsung would test this thoroughly before releasing, but it seems like perfectionism isn't their thing lately. Thanks for the tip on the terms and condition agreement, I haven't done that.

Yep, quite a few of us over that the ES7100 owners thread have been scratching our heads wondering how this could pass quality testing before deployment.

If you do not disable the terms and conditions, it could become active next time you cycle power.
I disabled the terms and conditions and all is well. Thanks for the tip, I appreciate it. I wonder if they will look into it and fix this mess anytime soon.
What is SyncPlus and how can I disable it?
It's something Samsung included in a November update. I actually don't know what it does. It is located in the SmartHub. You can can disable it and uncheck the terms and conditions box and the problems with lines and screen jumps disappear.

I ve updated mine yesterday, and I still dont have that application.

Sounds like you do not have a US set or firmware?

Firmware 1022 is when SyncPlus was pushed down.
I dont have US set, but I have this problem with MotionPlus turned on, too.

I have done some testing with my computer and various other devices, connected HDMI to a UN55ES7100 set:

For all tests, Game mode off, LED motion plus on.

-Source: computer over HDMI (Nvidia - possible timings issue)
-Input signal to tv: 60Hz
24fps content: Hitching about every 5 seconds with AMP on, no pulldown with AMP off
30fps content: No hitching at all with AMP on, smooth and consistent
60fps content: Strange issue, AMP does not appear to interpolate any frames, but causes artifacts and hitching with fast scene changes. Best when Judder is set to 0.

-Source: PS3 over HDMI
-input signal to tv: 24hz
24fps content: No hitching with AMP on, though audio appears to have sync issues

I will be testing 24hz computer and 60hz - 24/30/60fps PS3 tonight to see if there are any differences.
This stuttering in AMP has been happening long, long before this Syncplus update, so this is not the issue. Though I have no doubt this could be causing further issues. I've made sure that it is unchecked. Does this mean that it's disabled then if the agreement is unchecked?
No it's isn't the reason for the AMP issues. It causes a whole new problem. I got the email straight from the office of the president to turn it off. There is something wrong with the app and Samsung is working to fix it. It causes the picture to have lines and jump like a bad VHS tape.
I had the samsung ue40d6100 and had all these problems you mentioned it was fine for at least 2 weeks then xbox games would jump really bad ie pro evolution soccer 2012 when u kick a ball the picture would judder and jerk. same with sports or hd channels even sd channels. yet 4 years ago i had the lg lh7000 32 inch full hd 100hz tv and i never had one problem with it.

why cant they make tvs like that anymore
Hello All, I am new to this forum. Unfortunately I bought UE40ES6800 which is European model. As you pointed out I have setup 24Hz on my PC to solve the AMP problem however I am about to connect my sat set to a TV and I wonder if there is any workaround to change sat HDMI output to 24p as well to solve the problem (similar like on PC)?
Your source has to be 24hz or fps in order to properly display it that way. Most TV shows are filmed at 30 fps so to try to run it at 24 fps would prolly make it judder uncontrollably. Your satellite box would have to have a 24 fps setting but prolly doesn't.

Is there any HDMI converter to 24Hz.
Really no workaround, no solution?

What a shitsung :-)

Can't really blame Samsung for that one. That's the case with any TV.

Try disable the Wi-fi.

Hi Everyone,
I have the Samsung Smart TV model UN55ES6100FXZA. I have it for almost a month now. From the very first day after setting it up, I've experienced the jittery screen when watching hi-def cable broadcast, and have been most frustrated.
After reading as much blogs and reviews to find the "answers" and tried all suggestion and settings for the "film modes" and "auto motion plus", they do work some, but none worked well enough to my satisfaction.
I'm not one to give up, there must be a way of solving this problem. I remember when watching cable programs on this tv, every now and then I would see a message on the upper right of the screen that says it is "updating", so I'm thinking I do not want to see this, how do I disable it. I found there is no "option" to disable the wi-fi in the menus (I may be mistaken but I have not found this option yet). To make the story short, after disabling the wi-fi, the tv all of a sudden is fast and smooth and responsive. I'm now extremely and happy with this tv now.
I have also tried turning off "SyncPlus", and it works well, but I still think disabling the wi-fi maybe even better.

How to turn off SyncPlus:
Smarthub -> SyncPlus -> Tools-> Samsung SyncPlus Service: Off

How to disable Wi-fi:
Menu -> Network Setting -> (scroll down to bottom of menu) Add Network -> Next -> (here type anything you want ie: 123 or xyz) -> Next -> (select) Open -> Next -> OK

Hope this will help some people. Cheers.

The only thing is that I have NEVER used the wi-fi on my TV. I do everything wired. The other is that your settings show the Auto-Motion Plus to be turned off. This forum is about problems experienced by having it turned it on.

@ cooperjs1

Sorry I did not clarify myself. When I experienced the jitters and hiccups on the screen as I watched cable programs, it drove me crazy, and it was hair pulling madness trying out every possible settings in AMP to try and make things smooth and watchable. And sorry I am not a fan of the soap opera effect nor am I a fan of something on the screen that looks like in fast motion.

I tried them all, but the settings that seems to work is "Clear", Blur 8 / Judd 2, Blur 10 / Judd 0.

I am not sure if "hard wiring" the internet and bypassing the wi-fi may also be the solution. What I concluding is the "Wi-fi" hardware in the tv is interfering with the performance of the screen

The setting I had shown is my "current" setting of my tv after disabling the wi-fi, and the result is very satisfying knowing that I did not waste any money buying any junk.

So the question is why does anyone want to use the AMP feature when you don't need it?

AMP is just a matter of personal preference. I enjoy the soap opera effect. I feel like it gives it a lifelike quality. It prolly runs about 50/50 as far as whether people like it or not. The whole point is that it doesn't function correctly. As it is a feature on the TV, it should function properly for those who enjoy it. As far as wi-fi goes, I haven't tried it.
