Hey there Peter, how are things? It actually is very dark but in the sunlight it's a dark charcoal brown colour. As there is no natural light in the room, it will essentially be black. Had the strip put on the riser so that you can see the edge. Even with lighting, it's hard to differentiate the step without the stripping.
There is no real sound that I can identify coming through the floor. Inside the theatre I installed two 19mm particle board sheets with Green Glue and there is a perimeter bead of acoustic caulk filling the gaps between the walls and floor. My kitchen cabinets do rattle a little but compared to what's going on inside the room, it's nothing
I used gold rubber underlay, I think about 8 broadloom metres (that'll confuse those Americans).
