Samsung HLN437W no OTA

I was unable to get any channels (OTA) with my outdoor antenna. While this works just fine with my Visio LCD. Is this because the Samsung does not have the proper built-in turner?

Yes it only has an analog tuner. All over the air transmission is now digital.

You will need to buy a converter box.
