the one thing that is great about the game
is it how it caters to all gameplay types and game styles
I am mirror opposite in class selection
my order of preference is medic, soldier,
pyro, heavy, and like you engi when needed - rarely touch scout, demo and spy

ever play MVM – could always use a good demo

With a new PC in the works and this latest Steam sale, I'm getting caught up on the last year or so of PC releases I missed.

First up: Amnesia.

Holy crap. I honestly can't play this for more than a half hour or so at a time. My heart can't take it. A little over two hours in and I'm loving it, but either I'm a serious wuss, or this is the scariest game I've ever played.

Next up: Hotline Miami.

Agreed on Amnesia.

I've played it and think the mode is pretty cool, but 2Fort is what gets the juices flowing for me. When I go defensive Demo, I like to frag with this loadout:

- Loch 'n Load
- Splendid Screen
- Horseless Headless Horsemann's Headtaker (skinned Eyelander)

My best kill streak in one round before getting killed myself using that setup is 60-0 (I got just over 70 once, but broken up between two rounds). It is beastly once you get the hang of it.

The Humble Bundle is an amazing deal on THQ games this time around. $6 gets your Saints Row 3 plus a bunch of other great games. Help maybe save THQ, go buy!

Yeah, loving it.

Funny part about it is that for the first hour, I was kind of pissed because I kept thinking "Man, these a-holes totally ripped off Sun Araw." Then when I quit playing, they showed the musical credits... eek.gif

Massive props for designing an awesome game and for licensing equally awesome music.

Yep. I'm nearly finished with my backlog from the 2009 Steam winter sale. tongue.gif
post #1063 of 1865
Another pooey day for sales... at least for me. The man with everything. eek.gif

I'd like a deal on Dishonored but that's about it.

It's $30 right now.

Watch for codes through Greenman Gaming too. I got it for $22.50 through them, on the 24th. It's still a steam download.

I bought so much in the summer that I strongly doubt I am going to find anything on this years chistmas sale that I want. Maybe Forge if it goes to 50% without any buy 1 get 1 free type gimmicks.

edit - Oh, lol. I overlooked that this was the community choice game at 50% before I posted. Well... Success!

I actually just started playing Dishonored about a week ago, and I'm really liking it so far. Definitely worth it at $30 in my mind.
FYI, if you're interested in Hitman Absolution, Greenman has the same price as steam, but you get the professional version. They also have either $5 cash back or $7 credit. So you get it for $20 if you go cash back. Steam download.

I recall reading it takes about 10 hours to finish this game if you take your time. I have a rule that I won't pay than than $1 per hour of anticipated total game time.

I think I'll like this game. But if I figure pn only getting 10 hours out of it then I guess I'll be waiting a while for it to reach $10.
I'm not paying anymore than $10 for that one either. Doesn't catch my fancy.

Hitman for $20 though....

Hmmm

FEAR 3 for $5 is a great deal. The girl and I had a great time running through it on the 360.

I bought Prince of Persia (2008 reboot) for $2.50. Had rented it back in the day, but never finished. I forgot how fun it is, and don't mind the never-die mechanic now that it's become more common. Plays pretty good on my 'ol PC too.

Tempted to get the Darksiders bundle for $13.60 - first and second game, plus a bunch of DLC. Again, the first one I rented but never finished.

I am pleased to find simbin racing titles are 70% biggrin.gif

Will Steam have another sale for New Years?

Seeing as how this sale runs through January 5, I kind of doubt it. But then again, it is Steam/Valve, so you never know...
I wound up getting Darksiders bundle $13.60 for both games plus DLC. And I keep checking the flash sales, so picked up Alan Wake's American Nightmare ($3.74), Sonic 4 Episode 1 ($5), and just nabbed Rayman Origins ($10.19). Great deals on all, methinks.

I'm officially addicted to controller-enabled PC gaming. tongue.gif Anyone else diving in?

I hear Spec Ops is brilliant, so I grabbed it for $10.
Legend of Grimrock was my favorite 2012 purchase for the PC (at least that I played - grrrr backlog). This real time first-person dungeon adventure has a creepy atmosphere, and a lot of fair but challenging puzzles to solve. It is now only $3.74 on Steam but is easily worth triple that.

Dudes. Spec Ops: The Line is $10 again. I spent two hours on it last night, and have no hesitations about recommending it. I had played the demo beforehand, which made the game look out to be garbage. If you are in the same boat, give the full release a shot. It is a fantastic example of how to tell a quality story in an shooter, instead of the crap that COD and Battlfield have been shoveling at us in their terrible single-player campaigns for the last four years.

Spec Ops has a multiplayer mode, but it isn't even worth turning on. The point is sharply executed solo play. Buy it!

The Line is totally badass. If GOW is Predator Spec Ops is Platoon.
