Seriously though, I hope Valve and the game publishers are raking it in. As good as Steam is (interface, ease of use, pricing of software), and now the brilliant big picture mode, I think Valve is not only keeping PC gaming alive, but moving the industry forward to a better place. Microsoft's PC gaming division apparently doesn't communicate with their Xbox division, because a 3rd party like Valve is doing to Windows what the Xbox did to console gaming.

I'm really happy to be gaming on a PC again. And this year's E3 - next Xbox, Playstation, and Steambox, should be quite interesting.

Is Serious Sam 3 worth $6?

SERIOUSLY MAN DID YOU EVEN CHECK THE METACRITIC?

I finished Serious Sam 3 back when it cost more than twice the current sale amount and it was worth every penny. It is about as action-packed of a FPS game that's come out in ages. You sometimes get to mow down hundreds of enemies as you try to survive to the next level. Forget all the docile cover shooters that have been the rage this gen - this game is old school where the run backwards key is your best friend.

I just noticed that the $10 DLC Jewel of the Nile level pack is only $1.50. I'm picking it up if only to enjoy the "Let''s get it on!!!" soundtrack that kicks in when the enemies start to swarm. smile.gif

SS is an incredibly fun franchise. $6 for SS3 is a killer deal. The 4-pack is $18 - buy three get one free! BTGO! I love the non-stop crazy fun! cool.gif

lol

Yeah SS3 is really good in my opinion. At that price I am thinking of picking up another copy to play with friends when they come by the house.

Not sure what you mean - Metacritic has 27 positive reviews and 26 mixed reviews. A 72 out of 100 isn't an insta-buy in my book, so I thought I would check here to see what AVSers thought.

Thanks joeblow, nathanddrews, and Hawking for the informative response. Sold, with the Nile pack. I don't know when i'll ever play through all these games I've been buying! tongue.gif

Go back last page and you will see how darthrsg gave his opinion (meh) on a game and was rebuked by a special forum member because Metacritic gave it great reviews.
He's just poking fun at that certain member. smile.gif

Sleeping Dogs (& DLC) is now on sale.

Gah! This is absolutely the last thing I'm buying during this sale. tongue.gif

Extended through the 7th.

Witcher 2 is a great price at $7.50 right now, or both for $10.

Oh was it? Ooofff.. I'm totally burnt out on this sale. I own everything I would ever want to own that is on Steam (save for upcoming games). Using Steam is so slow during these sales. I actually can't wait for it to end. Lol!

I still want to grab Skyrim. I meant to when it was $30, but didn't snag it in time. It's been a year since I played it on 360, so now it's time to mod it up on PC.

My dislike of Oblivion/Fallout 3 on 360/PS3 has kept me away from this. Perhaps one day I'll bite.

The only thing I see that I want is Dishonored.

It still says "December 20 - January 5" on mine...

The current daily deals all end Sunday at noon. Everything else ends today at noon. (Central Time)

I still can't believe that I missed RE5 both times it was 66% off. It's the only one I really wanted... Oh well, I guess 50% will have to do... wink.gif

I must be missing something with Serious Sam 3 - I've played an hour and all I'm doing is running around a desolate city with no enemies and I can't find any exit or way to progress.

Is there no map in this game? What's an old-school shooter without any indication as to where you are and where you are supposed to go?

Many people like this game, but I can't figure it out. mad.gif

I never liked the Serious Sams. They're funny, but plays poorly. Giant open areas that are off in scale, movement that is sliding around on skates, and primitive moment-to-moment gameplay are all a turn off.

Gah. I'm staring at Skyrim +expansions and Darksiders II +expansions in my cart and flip-flopping on whether I want to spend another $60 on this Steam sale...

Alright. Now to investigate how I can move my 360 Skyrim save to PC. You know, since Skyrim is downloading. wink.gif

Oh c'mon, James. It's supposed to play like that. Play Doom some time. wink.giftongue.gif

Cool. I successfully ported my Skyrim 360 save over to the PC. Even had a friend swing by and put $20 in my hand for that 360 copy. Skyrim PC with expansions for $23, plus I kept my progress. Win!

I wonder if you are at the part where you plant a C4 bomb around the bridge. That slowed me down a bit if I recall.

No, but thanks for the heads up. smile.gif I was at the end of the first level, just after the alien spaceship appears overhead and destroys the building. I killed all the enemies that warp in, but couldn't find path to continue beyond that.

The solution: Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
an archway under one of the buildings.
Thanks to YouTube, we may never need to get stuck in a game again. tongue.gif That said, this frustration could have been easily solved with an in-game map, or some sort of "idiot prompt" saying "Go Here".

ALSO, I couldn't resist and picked up the first Batman Arkahm game for $5. This is probably old news to everyone in this thread, but HOLY CRAP this game looks SO much better than I remember on 360! And I forgot how simple and perfect the gameplay is. Arkham City (the sequel) is a fantastic game, but I think I like Arkham Asylum a little better for it's simplicity (controlled path) and story. And visually, it's so detailed and rock-solid at 60fps w/ v-sync, with some amazing PhysX effects - for example: smoke pours out of a vent and settles on the ground, and characters will walk through the smoke and it displaces around their feet! eek.gif

At $5, Arkham Asylum should be in everyone's Steam library, if nothing else but to show off what a PC can do, and what next-gen consoles will probably be targeting. Get it while it's cheap!
You're probably right, add it to the 50 games I still haven't played in my steam library.
