Yeah. I wouldn't recommend it. The game is a bore. Save your money for something else.

Huh. I couldn't disagree more.

LA Noire is totally rad. The animation and dialog is fantastic, and the interview/interrogation sequences are unique in gaming. The world looks great, but is a bit bland. All told, it was totally worth my $30, and is totally worth your $5.

I bought it for PS3 and said I should have gotten it for PC.

I've got it on 360 and had no complaints. I'd pick it up on PC if I were buying it today, now that there's a Phenom II X4 / GTX660 machine in that room.
Rented it on 360, worth the rental at least. Not something I would ever play again.

Yup. Worth renting just to see the facial tech in action. But as a game, LA Noire is pretty terrible.

At $5, consider it a rental. Finish it or don't at that price.
btw, the PC version of L.A. Noire is indeed a waste of money, even at $5. It's is capped at 30fps to sync with the facial animations, the framerate is very choppy, and the textures are really low-res. mad.gif

Is Cave Story worth $2.50?

Very valid points as to what is wrong with The Cave.

EDIT: I read "Cave Story" as "The Cave". Guh? Buh.

Crikey! I paid 15 bucks for Cave Story. It has it's moments. The only negatives I had were a few 'twitch' puzzles where you had to move characters to different buttons while switching between 2 other characters and moving them to different buttons. Irritating! I was able to snag Sine Mora for less than 4 bucks when it went on sale. Get that instead.

Edit! Crap I just noticed I was talking about The Cave as well. Opps. Still get Sine Mora. That was a fun shooter with some awsome boss battles.

Now that I'm talking about the right game...

Cave Story was one of the early indie darlings. It doesn't hold up terribly well. In the hour I spent with it, the control scheme and precision was my major complaint. I think I picked it up as part of the first Humble Bundle or two, so it was worth it to see what it's about, but I wouldn't spend $2 on it by itself. Besides Daver, you have no shortage of games to play. wink.gif

I have a problem. redface.gif But thanks for the review DLJ, sounds skippable. And Arcadia88, I agree on Sine Mora - it's pretty cool and worth a couple bucks.

Sleeping Dogs is $10 on Steam today. If you don't own it, shame on you. wink.gif

The Sleeping Dogs DLC pack is currently $17, which contains a massive amount of DLC. If you are into that sort of thing. Note that it doesn't contain the base game, and each individual item is also on sale separately.

Just got Sleeping Dogs, and I am no longer ashamed. The question now is how long will the Dog Sleep?

Been sleeping quite a while for me. i bought the game a while back and have barely touched it... My backlog of games on Steam is about 250-300 games... and I keep buying more....

It's too bad there's so much DLC that it crankes the total price up to $30. I'll continue to wait on that one until the full-package edition is sub-$15.
If you like GTA it's well worth that price.

Most of the DLC is pretty unnecessary - costumes, vehicles, weapons, etc.. Some of the costumes give fighting bonuses, which is nice. Then there's The Red Envelope Pack that gives a few more things to collect, with cash rewards.

However, two of the DLC seem very worthwhile: "Zodiac Tournament" unlocks a fight on a hidden island, and "Nightmare in North Point" unlocks a completely different story. These are currently on sale for $1.25 and $1.75 respectively.

I don't know if all the DLC could be bundled as a full-package because some of the items unlock upgrades early (Top Dog Gold and Silver packs), which sort of ruins the character's progression in the game. But I could see eventually the base game being bundled with the Zodiac and North Point DLCs.

It's a good port, but be aware I've had a few glitches here and there, and occasional freeze/lockups. However, it's worth the minor hassle for the great graphics, interesting missions and cool open world.

After recently putting in 120 hours to finish Kingdom of Amalur, Sleeping Dogs has been my next backlog title that I've been enjoying. The free HD texture pack really makes the game look good, and the native 3D support works well once you tweak the settings a bit.

Thanks for the DLC heads up. I may get the mission packs.

I'll have to look at the DLC closer then. Game plus the DLC that has actual content for $15 is rather appealing.

How is the driving in that game? I loved the driving in GTA4. Does it feel anything like that?

No, it doesn't. It's much worse. If you ever played Saints Row 2 (Not 3), it's a lot like that.

Pretty good, and yes, the driving in Sleeping Dogs feels like the driving in GTA4, if not better. It won't make you forget the Burnout or Need For Speed series, but for an open world game, no complaints on the driving. There's even a very unrealistic "ramming" option, that looks strange but I find fun.

There's good races to participate in, including motorcycle. I also like the sections where you are leaning out the window of a speeding car, shooting at rivals while avoiding hitting bystanders. You can shoot the drivers or the wheels and the cars will crash into others, often causing a satisfying explosion.

One thing to note - it takes place in Hong Kong, where they drive on the left side of the road and the drivers side of the car is on the right. Tricky to get used to, but a fun challenge.

Lol, two completely different answers. Since I already have the game, I'll find out one day when I actually double click that icon sitting on my desktop.

It will be fun to learn to drive on the wrong side of the road though.

May not be in the game, but when I was there in Japan, the only real issue I had with it being on the other side was the Blinker/Windshield wipers are reversed as well. Then you return to the states and once again every time you go to turn your turning on the damn wipers.

I guess I should clarify my answer about the driving. to me it feels NOTHING like GTA4. I personally didn't like GTA4's driving, it felt too floaty to me, but I know Scott loved it, and he hated the driving in Sleeping Dogs when he tried it at my place. To me it was too far on the other end of the spectrum, while GTA felt floaty, SD felt too rigid.

Driving in Saints Row or Sleepy Dogs? Omg, kill me now!!

Anyone know if the Game of Thrones game is any good? It is on sale today so I was wondering if it is worth buying?
Well, below 60 on metacritic for both games, so there's a guideline.
