I survived the steam sale! My wallet is safe! biggrin.gif
post #1532 of 1853
My haul was pretty modest:

Dishonored: Knife of Dunwall DLC ~$4
Far Cry: Blood Dragon - $9
BL2 Tiny Tina DLC ~$3

Was tempted to get Skyrim Legendary Edition but I need to finish Witcher 2 first.
I finally started the BL2 Tiny Tina DLC last night, but found out quickly I need a lvl 30 character. tongue.gif

It has a great intro though! I switched to the Mr. Torgue campaign, which is a delight.

I got a bunch of stuff.

-DmC
-Bioshock Infinite
-Company of Heroes
-Trackmania 2 Canyon
-SOASE Rebellion
-Killing Floor bundle (regretted it about five minutes later, should just play Warframe for free)
-AC Brotherhood (just visited Rome and for $5 I want to see how they did it)
-Crysis Warhead
-Walking Dead
-Call of Juarez Gunsling
-Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon
-Universe Sandbox
-PES2013
-Chivalry

And a bunch of DLC to fill out other games I own (Dishonored, Sonic ASR, RAGE, Borderlands 2)

I finally got my GTX 760 in....I could start either blood dragon, tomb raider or borderlands.

Ye shall decide.
I would play Blood Dragon first since its the shortest.

All three are very good. If it's Borderlands 2, that's where my vote would go.

I really liked Tomb Raider of those three.

I vote for TR, then BL2 and when you are bored play Blood Dragon.

BL2 is by far the longest game of those three so keep that in mind when deciding.

I just started Tomb Raider last night. The game is absolutely gorgeous if nothing else. It gets my vote for eye candy on your new card.

It's fun to play too. Good shooting, good traversal, good collecting. GoTY material for sure.

Looks like I'll be raiding some tombs this weekend. smile.gif

Steam says I finished in 15 hours. It was less because I know I left it running a few times. The whole way through you feel as if you are leaving stuff behind.

It's a great game! I finished it on the Xbox but picked it up again on the PC when it went on-sale to enjoy it again in full graphical glory smile.gif

Anyone need/want a 33% off coupon for Eversion? I'd like some Torchlight or Alan Wake cards.

Just played (and beat) Gone Home this evening. It's short for its $20 price tag; I played through it at a brisk pace, but saw all the game's content in under two hours.

That being said I thought the story was an incredible experience that was touching and emotional in ways few games are. The atmosphere was perfectly tense for the circumstances, and it also managed to shock me more than once.

If you're ok with the price and looking for an interactive story and exploration, it's really worth checking out.

Waiting on Brothers.

If anyone was thinking about Castle of Illusion for nostalgia reasons, I don't recommend it at all. It's the worst PC port I've played in a long time. In fullscreen mode you only get 24 or 30Hz, depending on your display. Plus, on first run of the game, it loads into an unsupported mode for many people (such as myself), and the only way to get it to display is either following the sequence of buttons to turn off fullscreen, or using a registry edit.

The only way it plays decent is hacking it to get a borderless window.

" WiseGuy has started an AVS Steam Group "

That is super, thanks.  I just joined AVS because I got an entry level gaming computer and was planning on joining STEAM.  I'm totally ignorant, a complete n00b.

hey guys. having an issue with steam requiring that I login with my password when steam loads. I have steam loading automatically with windows and goes to big picture mode auto. worked perfect since big picture released. now I have put in password every time loads into big picture. super annoying. I have made sure "not save credentials" is unchecked. ran steam installer and chose repair. no luck. any ideas?

I've never pre-ordered a game on steam before, that doesn't have a pre-download thing. Is it normal for them to open downloads at 12am? Just trying to decide if I want to sit and stare at the clock in steam waiting for the new Rocksmith.

Sigh. Decided to try steam on my samsung series 7 laptop (i5, 4GB) before committing to an HTPC gaming rig, bought 2 xbox wired controllers. Downloaded steam, created an account.

There's a sale that just started. Only in for 2 games so far (Dyad - total tempest clone but I loved tempest, Syder Arcade), but now I can't stop scanning the store. This "sale" may cost me bigtime.

I just did a massive H/T upgrade, 106" screen, 1080p projector, 5 new speakers (already had decent sub). I agreed to let the brother-in-law watch the Raiders game at 1pm tomorrow, I wonder if I can get him to watch on the 40" TV in the backroom whilst I game away...

Just a heads up, The Steam Autumn Sale is in progress through December 3rd.

Dishonored for 3.19 today. I just finished it last night. It was a good game that missed a few details that could have made it great. Well worth it at that price.
