Sure glad I picked up Need For Speed : Shift last day of the sale. I played online with a few AVS members last night. I desperatly need to dial in my wheel settings as I was all over the road. lol
post #213 of 1864
Hell yeah! That was pretty sweet getting all four of us in a race together. Heheh, at least, once we figured out how the dang multiplayer works. Test out your wheel doing some quick races with 0 opponents. Recheck controls settings and do some test laps. You'll get dialed in real quick like and also make ingame money and driver XP.

Sorry I missed out on the fun last night. This year has begun with my schedule stacked. Which is a good thing but a bit of an impediment to my gaming Also, note to self, Buy NFS: Shift.
Wow. Between the stuff I downloaded because I bought it in this sale, and the older stuff that I re-downloaded because it's supposed to work well in 3D, I apparently hit the Comcast cap for the month.

Did they send you a warning letter?

It was a warning phone call, not a letter, but yeah.

What is your Comcast cap? You hit it 5 days into the month?

I'm wondering if I have one....

Comcast's cap is 250GB per month. I'm guessing that he hit it in December.

I have a bandwidth monitor on my router to constantly monitor my bandwidth. The closest I've come to it so far was 190GB, during a month where I watched an incredible amount of Lost on HD streaming Netflix. Last month though is iffy, as I swapped routers half-way through. Plus some periods of no power or unplugged router for movement means I lost previous day's records. I don't know what my December usage was. I do know that I chewed through 31GB on December 28th, and 52GB during the 4 days that the new router was the active monitor.

Can't believe companies are getting away with bandwidth caps. guess it's a sign of the times...
How much does game playing cost in bandwith currency for something like an online FPS game for ten hours a week?
first of all, sorry to have derailed the thread a bit. But yeah, it was for December, and it sounds like it's maybe based on billing month as opposed to calendar month, I didn't think to ask.

It's not too big a deal, as basically they're giving me a warning to not do it again in the next 6 months or they'll disconnect me.

It does bother me on principle though, as it seems that it's more of a preemptive strike against cancelling cable tv in favor of streaming in the future, but until FIOS is here, I've got no other choice.

But anyway, online gaming won't even come close to hitting the cap, but I've downloaded a ton of large games (like most of the ones in that 2K pack I mentioned, all of the HL2 games, Batman Arkham Asylum and a ton more).

Decided to try out my wireless 360 controller..what a difference that made. I was getting 1st place and even uped the difficulty level. Think for now I will use it then later down the road install a mod that fixes wheel issues. I can still get my pc wheel fix with Gran Turismo 5. No use installin the mod for nfs shift then not be able to play with you guys online. When we playin again anyways? lol I got up to lv 10 now and tier 3 unlocked.
Sure died off in here big time. What games you guys playing from the sale? I am currently playin Company of Heroes campaign. Very good game makes me question why I hesitated playin it all these years.
I was gone for several days in Vegas attending CES 2011. Haven't been playing many games since and with no sales... not much to talk about.

Sure up for some more NFS:Shift, anytime.

Just started playing the latest Prince Of Persia on the 360 that I picked up cheap last month during and Amazon sale. After that's finished, I'm going to pop in to Amnesia on Steam.
DLJ, how you liking SimCity4? I think I've seen you put in 200hrs of that since the Xmas sale.

Something is bugged somewhere then. I played SimCity 4 for like 25 minutes one day and then gave up on it because it isn't too Win7 friendly. Has my status seriously been "Playing Simcity" for the last week and a half? Funny stuff.
*laughs* Yeah, everytime I'm on steam it says you're jumping into SimCity4. The AVS Steam group stats says there has been 100+ hrs of gaming going on with that one.

Yeah, it shows you've been living that game. With that being said though, do a google search on windows 7 and Sim City 4...it works just may have to tweak.

Yup. My stats say 122 hours played in the last two weeks. Last played Jan 3. So, according to Steam, I REALLY liked SimCity 4 for 6 days, eight days ago. Or 20.3 hours per day.

Rad.

For my part, I've been sucked into another playthrough of Mass Effect 2 on 360. It's one of the few games that, even though I remember it as awesome, I forget just how awesome it is. I have plenty waiting for me on Steam when I'm done. Maybe Darksiders is up next.

Tom - Yeah, I googles and tweaked it. Even fully tweaked though, it runs pretty nasty, and for really no reason. I put enough effort in to getting it to run properly, and have moved on. Thanks though!
Hmph. Was wondering why it ran so crappy on my Win7 machines. Oh well. I have too many other games I'm not playing.

The Chronicles of Riddick Assault on Dark Athena is 75% off this weekend. So $5 for 2 games. I of course picked it up...grrrr like i needed another game. lol

Yeah, I was thinking about that one too.

The first Riddick is great, and I'd like to play Dark Athena. That's the type of game that I would rather play on the 360 though. Looking at Amazon it's ~$11 used after shipping, $18 new. Hmm...

Nah, too many games to play right now anyway. Almost done with Prince Of Persia, then Little Big Planet 2 hits next week with Dead Space 2 the week after! Somewhere in there I also need to squeeze in Amnesia and Metroid M.

Yeah, it seems to just hate Win7. It only wants to run in software mode, plus doesn't play nicely with multiple cores, plus doesn't even peg the single core that it does want to run on, but then still chokes at like 12fps when you move the screen around. I popped in to the Steam thread, applied the recommended fixes, got mediocre results, and moved on.

I have issues playing FPS with a controller cept Halo 3. LBP 2 looks pretty sweet..may have to pick that one up for ps3 eventually.

The only problem I had with the Dark Athena version of Butcher Bay is the replacement of the original action music during battles. Other things, like the added animations, definitely benefit the game.
