It's all good. The higher up we get in level, the faster we can level you up if you play with us.

I've played this game too many times but still love it. So much fun in coop. I'll give anyone cool guns too if you play with. Make sure you have a mic though.

Also, thanks for the awesome assault rifle. That thing is crazy!

We'll have to play again sometime. Preferably on a night I don't have to get up for work the next day.

Yeah, we had a great time last night. We are almost all leveled the same. I know Marafice Eye and I are 25 now. Reset all my gear for 25 and ummm got all my skills ...uummm... 'perked' up.

I doubt I will be up to much tonight. If anyone wants to play later, jump on and send invites.

It's Valve, it's free, why not. I'll get it.

I fooled around with Alien Swarm briefly and the game is really good. I easily would have paid $5-$10 for it. We should set up some play time, maybe later tonight or tomorrow.

I'd be up for it tomorrow. I may be getting home late tonight. What's your Steam ID?

I will start downloading it today on my lunch break. If anyone is up for some co-op tonight. I made a event for tonight on AVS steam group.

Play Alien Swarm in first person: guide and video

In case it’s not disgusting enough from a god’s eye view, you can actually play Alien Swarm in first person fairly easily. I’ve just tried it, and it’s a bit of a shock. Here’s a video of what it’s like to play, and instructions on how to do it yourself. It only takes a sec.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nsvBr...layer_embedded

You can pretty much see what to do from the vid, the only extra bit of information you need is that to bring up the console, you have to go to Options > Keyboard > Enable developer console. Then hit ` (to the left of 1) and type:

firstperson
asw_hide_marine 1
asw_controls 0
It was Jack Waugh on our Facebook group who asked for this, and Shrimpsess on the Steam forums that provided the answer. He posts
a bunch of other useful console commands
a bunch of other useful console commands a bunch of other useful console commands
there, like tweaking friendly fire.

It doesn’t feel quite as slick as a native first-person game, of course, but it works remarkably well. It might actually be easier for hitting those goddamn flying things that stun you.

Pretty good deals on Steam this weekend. All of the Bethesda/id catalogue is $70, or the entire Doom set is $13.50 at the moment. Some other sets of the Bethesda pack should be on sale over the next couple days. I'm hoping to see cheap Fallout 3 GOTY, I think.

Before I make the jump to an XBox (if I make the jump) I was thinking about trying Steam with an XBox controller first. If I was to setup two accounts (one for me and one for my wife) is there a way for us to compete against each other in these games? I have two HTPC's that are very capable of playing gaming.

You know it's coming.

I just happened to catch the first day of this sale about 30 mins before it ended and picked up Oblivion GOTY Deluxe for $8.50. Already played it on 360 but figure it's worth a 2nd run through all modded up & with the DLC.

You'll need separate copies of the game for each account but yeah. The Xbox controller is great, as far as controllers go, depending on the type of game. What games were you thinking of competing with?
I don't know yet. I signed up for Steam yesterday. I ended up getting the "Afterglow" wired controller from Wally's world. It was either this or a pink one.

I am researching some demo's this weekend to see what we want. What would you recommend?
Will the XBox controller work with the Steam Demo games? I tried to get it to work with Company of Heroes, but could not.

Yeah I tried it with the Mafia II demo and it worked perfectly.
OK - I will try that one. Did you have to do anything in particular to get it to work?
Not that I remember. I think you had to select gamepad if I wasn't mistaken. It's set up to work with the 360 pad which I use.
the 360 controller just worked automatically. I switched between KB/M and the controller seamlessly.
While doing the demo of Mafia II (with controller) it asks for "R" to accelerate the car. I tried all of the buttons, but could get this to work. What button would be "R"?

Left 4 Dead 2 is $7 today on Steam, or you can get both L4D+L4D2 for $10. Buy it goddamnit!
Yes, I just snagged the combo pack! And my wife wanted me to grab it when it was $30. Good thing I waited.

I would buy this, but I got it from Target for $4.98.
$4.98! Oh sh.... . Why can't my Targets ever carry anything good? The best I saw was Ghostbusters for $4.98, and I didn't even want that. Maybe Bioshock 2. Otherwise, zip.

Same, I couldn't believe it when I saw it in the store. This was awhile back mind you but I love it when I find deals like that at Target. They've had some pretty good PC game deals in the recent past.
