**** me running with a screwdriver, they are selling things I just bought for a whole lot less than I paid for them! Looks like the service just went down. Pooop.
They're killing me, don't they already know I've got hundreds of games I haven't touched yet?

Looks to be down for me too though.

Yeah the servers are getting hammered. I could imagine the chaos on their end.

My backlog was already full... they had autumn's sale and bought more game. After that they had the daily deal.. bought more... and now... THIS!?!??

Come on Steam, that's not fair!

If this keeps up, I'm gonna need the most expensive high-capacity SSD available for all these titles, whenever I get around to putting together my next PC.

Nah. Just get a decent sized one and a big HDD. Then use SteamMover.
I only use HDDs for photo/video/music storage. I won't run anything off of them anymore after having moved to an SSD for my OS and programs for my current desktop. For me and my games, it's SSD or dine in Hell!
Damn, now not only does Valve 'make' me buy games, now they want me to PLAY them too?

I'm tempted to buy such games as Singularity for $7.50 but I somehow suspect it will be "Deal of the Day" soon.

Right. That's why I mentioned SteamMover. You download the games and store them on the HDD but then 'move' them to the SSD when you want to play them with higher performance.
I'm trying to slowly get into RTS games and bought Total War Shogun 2 this week - it's almost 20GBs of data! No reasonably priced SSD can deal with the growing size of games IMHO, so a good HDD and SteamMover are essential as mentioned above.

RAGE is showing up as 33% off a regular price of $29.99. I'm tempted to buy it as that's a decent price and seems like an error instead of new normal price.

Also I think it's very odd the publisher deals page shows a logo for LEGO Harry Potter Years 5-7 in the WB section but Steam apparently doesn't offer that game.
Not really any deals in there that I'm interested in yet, to be honest. I mean, the indie bundles are usually good, but I liked it better last year when it was packs of 5. A pack of 10 for $20, while still cheap, just has too much of a likelyhood of crap games when I've only heard of one or two in each pack.

I'd guess that Rage will be 50-66% off later in the sale at $10-15.

Also, you have Just Cause 2 and Portal 2, right jhoff?

Yeah, I have both of them already.

Is $30 the new standard price for Rage? If so I'll definitely wait. The only daily deal that interests me today is the latest Runaway game for $5. I have all the other games that I like that are on today's deals. I'm also finally picking up The Misadventures of P.B. Winterbottom, since at $2.50 I don't really care if it gets cheaper.

God I love Steam's Holiday Sale! I just bought Fable 3, the Traitor's Keep Quest Pack, the Understone Quest Pack, and I must admit, the Industrial Knight Outfit. (But I draw the line at the dog dlc. There's no way I'm going to waste money on a Dog Breed Set and a Dog Outfit.) I got all of that for $15.96.

I also bought Portal 2 for $7.49 and the Pendulo Adventure Pack for $12.49.

I'm looking forward to having townspeople applaud and laugh when I fart in Fable 3. I loved Portal 1, so I know Portal 2 is going to be awesome. And I can never have enough point and click adventure games.

I already own Just Cause 2, Metro 2033, Amnesia, and all of the Sam and Max Games.

Looking forward to playing games for the Great Gift Pile. I find it hilarious that we can get lumps of coal. I'm not going to buy games just to get prizes and coal. But I'll definitely try to meet the objectives for any games I already own.

Portal 2 was the correct choice.
I just got 33% off any Valve title. Only problem is I own everything they published already. Damn you Valve. Damn you.

This happens every year. You would think by now Valve would spring for at least a temp capacity upgrade to handle this. But honestly Steam isn't known for it's "top-notch" customer service, it's known for the games. The best thing to do is buy now and then download in January.
GLaDOS is behind it all.

You can gift this coupon to a friend and make them happy.

I haz no Steam Friends or friends who play games for that matter. But I'm more than willing to gift it to someone from the forum since I have no need whatsoever for it. Though I suspect there are few here who don't already have everything that Valve has put out. Given the current sales prices on their stuff, it's a rather meaningless coupon anyway since people will simply pick the heavily discounted titles up now and the coupon isn't even applicable until two weeks from now. Basically it's a "Sorry you missed out on the Holiday Sale" offering. I'll hold on to it until it's valid (01/02/2012) and then I'll gift it out if there's someone here who needs it.

I wanted to pick up Portal 2 (probably the only Valve game I do not own) but since my backlog is already crazy, I decided not to. Don't know why but under 5$, even if my backlog is full, I can't pass on buying the game.. at 7,49$... I was able to resist

Was able to do 2 objectives last night (one being game related and the other one being looking into my steam inventory lol). Are the objectives the same for everyone? I guess so.

I picked up limbo yesterday for $2.50(I think). I had never played it on xbla and wanted to try it. Good price for it and looks like it'll be pretty fun. Also picked up Max Payne 1 and 2, but after I did I remembered hearing something about them not being playable on Win 7. Anyone know anything about this?

I pickedup Limbo during autumn's sale since i tried it but didn't pick it up on the PSN. Played it for 10 mins so far

I picked up Max Payne 1 and 2 couple of months ago when they were 2,50$ each.

I have Win7 64 bit and had the sound problem too. You will need to install the patch file found in the steam thread I posted below. After installing and extracting this patch, I had no problem with the sound. Keep in mind I only tried the tutorial

Cool. Thanks for the link.

I've been meaning to get costume quest after trying that on xbla, so I picked that one up today but that's it for me. Mostly I've been concentrating on getting the winter achievements on the games I already own so far.

Didn't pick anything today on Steam ( but some PS3 games ).

Checked my inventory and I have 2 pieces of coal and the 25% off Valve game (that everyone gets)

Same thing here. Didn't find anything I wanted on Steam today, but picked up Rock Band 3 On Demand version and Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet on my 360.

Anything interesting on sale for PS3 that you liked?
