Is the DB2 antenna ok for mounting horizontally?

Help! Outdoor antenna indoor?

I have a question. I currently have 2 flat indoor antenna a CFDTV2 , and a RCA ANT1450B. Both are decent, but only get moderate signals indoors. The place where it gets the strongest signal, weirdly enough, is underneath my couch (perhaps because since my couch is custom made, we put a bunch of heat protection reflective aluminum under it).

The only issue right now is locally we have 5 HD channels, each of the small antenna's I have will only pick up 4 of them. The one missing is different on each antenna.

Since its currently under my couch, would it be ok to put the largest outdoor antenna I can fit under there? will that work at all?

ie something like DB2 antenna, but the 4" thick it says it is online is too thick. I can only fit 3"

Here is a pic of where my couch is. Its against the windows, which are actually True north. Underneath my couch is a lot of heat sheidling reflective product as there is a heater under my couch. I would place the antenna under where the red square is.

I care MOSTLY about HD channels...but if SD comes in clear enough, i'd watch some family guy on it

I have no experience with the DB2 but if others advise against the DB2, then you might be able to find a log periodic or two that could fit the 3 inch requirement.

Some people report better results with flat antennas when used in a vertical position. However, flat antennas are multi-directional and all of the stations in green on your TVFool are coming from the same direction. A directional antenna would probably be a better choice for you. The Winegard SS-3000 is a good low profile antenna. It won't work under your couch, but it is only around 5 inches tall. If you use the SS-3000 without its reflector, it's even shorter. Your picture spotlights a good location to try one. Good Luck.

The signal seems to be coming from the window behind your couch at an angle. What ever antenna you choose will work best when aimed in that direction it is designed for. Typically, more metal near a antenna does not help pull in a signal. Therefore, try the new antenna at the center of the glass window. It is always a experiment to finding that sweet spot for the signal.

The DB2 is designed to be mounted vertically with the bow-tie elements facing the broadcast signal.

Any other orientation, especially horizontal, will yield results that are much poorer than if properly installed.
