That "relay clicking" results from missing sound mode default settings in the setup menu by the user, as has been stated countlessy in several threads already. It happens only, if the hand shake algorithm has to search every time, because of intermittent mode triggers without a given default setting for every input and state. If it knows, where to go to, it doesn't have to search everay time that happens.
If done right, rarely a relay click will be heard. Mine clicks only when turned on.

How many models really offer that, and how many will in later model runs? None of the Sonys do (that I've seen). The Panasonic with two looks more like a stop-gap product.

2 outputs would be ideal but not necessary. You can run 1 HDMI to the TV and an optical to the receiver . This would take care of 3D

But what about all your OTHER discs?

What about them ? Your video connection on your blueray will change from connected to your receiver to connected directly to your TV. That's it.

Don't see what the problem is .. All your other discs will play as they always have. The only thing you have done is allow 3D content .

This would negate hi-rez HD audio (Dolby TrueHD, DTS HD Master and the like) of which is beyond the scope of your bandwidth limited optical/coaxial connection. Basic DD and DTS compressed audio is fine.

Any additional news on the 32 vs non32 models between US and the World? The symbols appear different on the Onkyo website. Was hoping this was just a goof up. :| Amazon lists it as 32; however, I am banking that Onkyo's site would be accurate :|

Any news on when these things are actually going to be out, I can't find stock any place.

I have several pre order quotes some as low as $1899.00 $USD including shipping to Canada. I see the TX-NR5007 can be had for under $1500.00 now. Are the only differences HDMI 1.4 or 3D ready or are there more reasons the TX-NR5008 is better ?

I believe so. Where do you see the prices under $1,500? I plan on getting the older model (don't want or need 3D).

Besides the extra media features and 3D I believe there may be some additional fixes for issues which plagued the 5007 and 3007. not that I would expect Onkyo to Own up to it.

I will be waiting for the first reviews to come out before I decide to go new or old. Many early adopters will have already had the 5007/3007 and I am interested to see what their take is .

The HDMI 1.4 standard also supports the bandwidth for the higher resolution standards (non-3d) . But your right if you plan to stay non-3d and at 1920x1080 then there is no need to upgrade unless there is a feature you require

One new feature (3008, 5008): Brand new Audyssey MultEQ XT32, with 32 times more filters available for correction.

I can't wait to hear people talking about the improvement MultEQ XT32 has over MultEQ XT. I'm pretty sure the difference will be heard by some who will be upgrading.

I am now itching to try out the 3008 with the XT32 to see what improvement it has over my a year old Denon 4310.

Google ONKYO TX-NR5008 or 5007 then check search tool marked (more shopping sites) this is the fastest way I have found to get best prices on any product available In your country of choice and denomination. You should be able to find the MSRP on the brands site but I have recently run into a certain brand's reluctance to give an MSRP for Canada and the US but with the only distributor in Canada is setting an SRP price not MSRP at ($43000.00 in $CAD)
($31500 is the $USD MSRP) If this price discrepancy is condoned by the parent company something has to be done it's a huge money grab.
I have not one reply from the head office of the parent company after almost 3 weeks of pressing all parties involved on the reason why the MSRP jumps by $13K at the border on a $32K system.
What do you think should be my next step to resolve the $13k question.
Dealers in US offer minimum 30%-40% off US MSRP for complete speaker system purchase bringing the price down to
$20475 $USD compared to $43000 in Canada.
There is no retailer discount for a complete speaker system purchase in CANADA.
I think this marketing practice needs to stop as soon as possible.

You better sit down when you do any price comparison checks and MSRP on anything sold in CANADA and the US.
The MSRP for the TX-NR5007 at one dealer in CANADA is $3199.99 $CAD thats = $3050 $USD.
The MSRP in the US is $2699 for both ONKYO TX-NR5008 or 5007
The lowest prices for new that I found are in the $USD
$1499.99 for the 5007 and $1899.99 for the 5008.
Used or refurbished 5007 are as low as $1299.99
I could realy cash in if we CANADIANS were as stupid as these companies think we are.

With that information I'm going with the TX-NR5008 because the MSRP is the same in the US $2699 for both 5007 and 5008.

Look at the pre order prices from on line retailers as low as $1899.99 for the 5008 including shipping and most will offer exceptional deal's on peripheral home theatre components and other electronics if you make large purchases.
There is only one drawback and thats finding all the brands I want are not always available at any one store.
There are a lot of people up here who brag about the prices they pay and most will recommend shopping in the US
I have found many retailers in the US who will bend over backwards to earn your business offering huge discounts on products they don't even stock.
I believe the term most often heard was "if we don't have it we will get and sell it to you below $USD MSRP."

I get really nauseous just thinking about someones appalling profits off the uninformed public but with the internet we don't have an excuse for being uninformed now do we?

No way in hell I would pay a high price for any of Onkyo's current flagship receiver's with their cute little engine that couldn't amp sections.

I would because up here the MSRP = to paying $3050 $USD
while US MSRP IS $2699 and on sale for $1899 already $800 off on pre order.

It would be interesting to know if there is a discernable difference between XT and XT32. I'm pretty sure there is a difference in the lab, but does it translate to the real world.

My room is symmetrical so I don't know if there would discernable difference, between XT and XT32 in my environment. My present AVR (Marantz SR7002) only has MultiEQ and I listen to it most of the time without MultiEQ engaged.

An authorized dealer linked from the ONKYO website has a good price for the TX-NR5007 and when I asked about the TX-NR5008 the price was $800 less than the $USD MSRP with free shipping to CANADA and the U.S.

There is a Canadian retailer that accepts pre-orders for 10% more than the US MSRP, for both TX-NR3008 and TX-NR5008. This is the best deal I found in Canada, please PM me if you have a better one. Thanks!

Why would I pay 10% more than $USD MSRP? $2699.99 X 1.1=$2969
The U.S. authorized online retailers prices are $1479.99 for the TX-NR 5007 and $1899.99 for the TX-NR5008 including shipping to CANADA.

$1699 (USA MSRP less $800) for the TX-NR5008 is a great price! It's one of my top AVR's to replace a Denon 3808CI. The others are Integra DTR-70.2 and Denon AVR-4311CI.

Decisions, Decisions....any suggestions?

Looks like Onkyo has changed the Release Date on the 3008/5008 from Late August to "Coming Soon". This had to be done in the past day or two as it has said Late August for some time and I have been checking it quite often as I just purchased a 3007 and am still pondering the 3008.

I really am greatly enjoying my 3007. It has replaced a TX-SR875 in my HT. I continue to you these AVR's as Pre-Pro's so I cannot speak to the true SQ of the Amplifiers in the 3007.

I really like that with Reon, you can now Upsample to 1080p/24. I also am enjoying Internet Radio/Firmware Updates, Dolby Volume, Audyssey Dynamic EQ and Volume, and all of the other Features.

At the prices they are selling for currently, I cannot fathom a better choice.

I have a recent quote under $1650 for the TX-NR5008 and they have stock now, already this conflicts with release date being changed to "coming soon"?
The prices dropping and the changed release dates concern me that maybe something is really wrong with them?
