I have a couple questions too:
1) Does it have a fan? How warm does it run?
2) You say that it "sometimes it takes a second or two". Does that mean that sometimes it's quicker? Is it usually quick, but only sometimes it takes long?
3) Have you tried Audyssey Dynamic Volume? How is it?
4) Is it possible to have several inputs using the same HDMI input? For example, I would like both my BD and Game inputs to use my PS3, but I want to apply different default surround modes.
And a general question for anyone:
I'd like to use both Zone 2 operation AND surround back speakers. So if I use an external amp to power my surround back speakers, will the PRE-OUT for surround back be active for me to do that? I would then use the amp's internal amps to power Zone 2. I'd have to do it this way because there's only one DC trigger output, so I can't have the amp only turn on Zone 2 external amp.
1.) Fan ? Haven't opened it, and up to now didn't hear one.
How warm: Didn't measure, but sometimes (also after several hours of use) put my hand on, and never found it hot. Lets call it "lukewarm".
2.) Depends which source. CD goes quick, Tuner or DVB-T takes a little.
3.) For me usually great, my wife doesn't like it.
She doesn't like bass and the typical full "cinema" sound.
CD's LP's DVD's sound great, but on TV sometimes the basses really are just too much. But it differs from film to film, and especial some ads, and some news sound somehow dull and roaring.
Also my son says that in some TV broadcasts the rear speakers make some sort of squeeky sounds, which I do not hear (I'm 58, he's 25).
I personally think the DVB-T receiver produces all that, and in the poor TV-Speakers one dindn't hear all that, and the Marantz now brings that all out.
With the rest I can't help. but here's a link to the user guide.
