It's really odd how slow manufacturers have been to tap into this market--so many people struggle with center speaker placement/mounting, and have for years now. I guess they're betting on center speakers getting smaller on the average, and maybe soundbars taking more of the market.

It's still a do-it-yourself project, but I think a lot more people would be comfortable doing this, and it's relatively inexpensive. Another thing I like is that it's more open than the typical riser, which reduces the risk of having acoustic issues that often plague center speakers (to the point where I've been forced to advise some people to use a phantom center).
