"Rizzoli & Isles" on TNT HD - Page 2

Do the FCC's rules apply to cable and satellite programming? In the past, the FCC has enforced the indecency and profanity prohibitions only against conventional broadcast services, not against subscription programming services such as cable and satellite. However, the prohibition against obscene programming applies to subscription programming services at all times.

That includes ALL subscription services and basic cable IS a form of subscription service, not just HBO. The first sentence after the bold says it all.

Yes the FCC always governs as to obscenity (broadcast, cable and sat), but for indecency and profanity, only broadcast TV as they do not enforce those restrictions against cable/sat.

So as HBO doesn't get tapped often with FCC obscenity fines, even TNT could, if they wanted to, air HBO shows completely unedited. Hell so could MTV. They choose not to for self-governing purposes and to appease advertisers and family rights people.

Hmmm. I don't see much improvement in the 2nd one. Is Wahlberg a permanent fixture on the show?

Man Brain Dennehy looks terrible.

Last night FMC had one of my all time favorite movies, uncut and uncensored with ALL the F-words in their glory, "The Commitments." Now that DID surprise me.

Nobody mentioned this but...

They got away with saying "tits" and "********" (you know, bull droppings)? On basic cable?? This is TNT remember?

Nobody mentoined it before because no one cared enough about it to do so.

So far the format has been not just serial killer... but serial killer + newly inspired serial killer who somehow has a connection to the original serial killer.

I thought this current episode was bad. Not only did Brian Dennehy look terrible, his character, a long retired Boston PD detective, was way too old to have suddenly decided in his old age that he would murder a few innocent women in order to frame the guy he had thought was the real Boston strangler 40 years before. Yeah, sure.

Despite his pasty looks and clinical obesity, Dennehy is still a fine actor but was completely wasted in this tripe. I also love Lorraine Bracco and Chazz Palmenteri, who play Rizzoli's mother and father, but they, too, were wasted in the first two episodes. Also, Palmenteri appears to have had not terribly successful cosmetic surgery on his face.

Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, I loved the show.

Ya I was shocked at some of the scenes and language the first time I ever watched Saving Grace. It was a good show though.

'Rizzoli & Isles' Revs Past 'The Closer'
TNT's new drama's second episode tops stalwart lead-in among viewers, demos
By Mike Reynolds, Multichannel News -- Broadcasting & Cable, 7/20/2010 5:06:31 PM
It appears that TNT has a bona fide hit with new series Rizzoli & Isles.
After retaining virtually all of The Closer's audience during its premiere, the drama built on its lead-in during its second episode.

The medical examiner series, starring Angie Harmon and Sasha Alexander, averaged 7.27 million viewers on July 19 in its 10 p.m. time slot, according to Nielsen data. That was some 300,000 more than the 6.97 million The Closer, basic-cable's top original series ever, delivered on Monday.

The second episode of Rizzoli & Isles delivered 5.33 million households, 1.98 million persons 18 to 49, and 2.71 million adults 25 to 54.

That's weird to see the ratings go up and surpass the lead-in.

IF it weren't for my liking the main actresses, I would give up. I'll hang on a bit and give the writers a chance to catch up... but even my like for the main characters won't keep me hanging for long.

It's wayyyy to much a "Bones" rip off. Isles is just as impaired in social situations is as Brennen is, go on a date and diagnose your date with Marfan's? Wear a weird outfit to a cop's ball game? Too over the top. Too cutesy. Too much.

I'll give it a few more outings in the hope they get their legs and tone down some of the eccentricities, but I'm not holding out hope.

Agree completely. I only watched the first 2 cause of Angie and Sasha, but that is not enough to keep me watching every week with really poor story lines.

I, too am very surprised that this show pulled in a higher rating than The Closer. Maybe there is still some curiosity about this show. I have been watching mainly because I watch The Closer and there is nothing else on after it that I am interested in watching. The whole idea that the Boston Strangler may have been a different person was interesting, but having a retired cop kill three people to try to convince everyone that another person was the Boston Strangler, was a bit too much for me to comprehend.

I was thinking the same thing with Isles and Bones. I almost thought I heard Isles say "I don't know what that means." Plus I think Emily Deschanel is much cuter.

I agree that Emily Deschanel is much cuter than Sasha Alexander. Come to think of it, though, Deschanel is way cuter than just about any actress I can recall.

I think Zooey Deschanel is cuter.

Sasha Alexander is way hot.

Just sayin'.

They're both pretty good to me.....

Yeah, they're both very nice. That hairdo on Emily does make her look better, but Zooey is still far sexier looking.

Nothing this week, did everyone quit watching? It's on my DVR hoping to get to it tonight.

I haven't watched this week's episode yet, either. Rizzoli & Isles beats The Good Guys but so far at least that's about all it beats.
Took a significant dip in viewers too. They've lost 1 mil viewers from episode 1 to 3

This week's episode was horrible, IMO. But then, I'm not into voodoo.

I was out of the house Monday... and DVRed it... but have not yet had a chance to catch up.

I'll watch it, but the priority is kind of low, unfortunately.

It wasn't just the voodoo. The whole revelation of the murderer was totally unbelievable.

It's a decent show. I mainly watch it for the two women.

Agree completely
I think every guy that watches it would agree they are watching it for Angie and Sasha and that is it.

Think I'm going to bail on this one. Episode 3 with the voo doo and exorcism kid was so bad I couldn't even watch the end of it. The writing on this show is so poor I wonder how long the 2 female leads can hold the audience in.
