Pioneer VSX 82 TXS...Help!!

I realize this is an older model. I purchased this receiver last year and did not set it up until recently. I have Energy Speakers hooked up.

The problem is this: the receiver shuts off as volume is increased. The speakers are fine (as far as I know). The OHMs are compatible.

This has been very frustrating. Is it the receiver? Can something be adjusted? Has anyone ever had (or heard of) this issue in the past?

Any help would be very much appreciated. I am not very skilled with audio/ video technicals, but I am willing to try anything before moving on to a different receiver.

Thank you in advance for any assistance.

Sounds like your receiver is over heating or over driving causing the shutdown. Most common cause is the sepaker wires shorting out. Try disconnect all speaker wires on both end the connect one speaker at a time very carefully (make sure no bare wires touch each other). If you done this and your receiver is still shutting down as before, you either have a faulty receiver or your speakers are at lower impendence than the receiver can sustain.

I will check all of my connections and make sure there are no bare wires touching. And I will check each individual connection. I appreciate your advice. Thanks for replying.
