JVC GZ-HM400 vs. Canon VIXIA HF s100

I have been looking at some HD camcorders roughly around 600 dollars lately. That shoot full HD have good still and some good image stabilization (will be used for skating/snowboarding)

And i think these are the two i will be deciding between. I have seen some great footage between the two.

But i was wondering what anyone thought about the two.

If there are more features on the JVC compared to the Canon etc.

Any help would be great.

Thank You

Weren't you inquiring about the JVC HM 550 and s100 in another thread? You are leaning away from the 550 now? Here is a comparison of the s11 and the HM400. I believe the s11 is the same as the s100 but with NO internal memory.

That is correct, i was earlier asking about the HM550 and the s100 and heard that the 550 was a little better, but im thinking the HM400 might still be a better camcorder than the 550. I still ask about the s100 because i consistently hear good things about it and see great footage.

Thank you for the link.

Your welcome. All three are nice cams, each with advantages over the other. The HM400 and S100 might be a better with manual controls, but the HM550 will perform better in low-light compared to the other two. I also think the Hm550' s video quality, (colors and sharpness), is on par with both those cams.

so sounds like all three cameras are rather equal. as for low light situations im not too worried about that, because if there is any situation where there wouldnt be very much light i would be using a light mounted on the cam.
