Well, at the time the ratings board frowned upon martial arts violence, especially at the softer '15' rating which Warners wanted for LW4. Any hint of chop-socky action, or the sight of a butterfly knife or nunchuks, and SNIP! It's gone. Now they've lightened up in general. See how Terminator 3 got an 'R'? It got the equivalent of a 'PG-13' ('12A') over here.
There's a very good chance that these LW2/4 cuts will be waived, but you never can be 100% sure until it's spinning in your player at home.
