I don't expect to have any issues, since my A200 and C200 play BD ISOs with no issues.

Now I need to make sure I sell my A200.

How about the first question, Damian? Thanks.

Does anyone know yet whether the USB WiFi adapter that ships with the PopBox wireless version is the WN-150?

I have one from my A200 that I never used and if it works with the PopBox I won't have to bother setting up my wireless bridge at my girlfriends house when I want to use the PopBox.

Did you ever own a wdtv live? Did you have problems with live streaming?
I have occassional stutters on a movie one day, and the next day it is fine. Using a media server with no transcoding tends to fix it though.

On the A200, if a bluray has theatrical and unrated versions, does the simple bd menu allow you to select between them?

Thanks!

I didn't answer that one since we have never actually tried playback on the popbox. Now assuming it work the same a the c200/a200 you should have no issues with playback.

My impression is that I expect, at a minimum, at least a quick review of it from you by tomorrow night!

Mine will also be here tomorrow, but I'll be at a Gov't Mule concert tomorrow evening so won't get a chance to set it up til Saturday most likely.

OK. So we know that the PB is "supposed" to scrape IMdB and return the metadata. It is supposed to do this based on the file name of the file. Anyone know the format the name should be in for the best results? I'm assuming something like SHES_OUT_OF_YOUR_LEAGUE should work, correct? If not, what would you all assume would be the best way?

You know, I was doing some thinking about the Popbox, and one area where I think it will fail compared to using YAMJ + PCH is TV Shows. Right now the Popbox will only be using IMDB which means no tv show scraping. I would assume this would then mean that for tv shows you will just be using the standand Windows Explore type browser and not the nice julebox you get with YAMJ or other

I was thinking the same thing earlier today Damian. I was wondering if they would be handled similar to the home videos section whereas it appears to grab a frame from the video. Most likely, it would be a simple file list as u have said.

That is actually one of my biggest worries for this device. If they figure out a decent way to list the TV metadata and fanart, I may even buy a second unit to replace the htpc in my main HT (since all I really care about is bitstreaming what is already on my server).

If it fails to deliver with the tv shows, it will only take the place of the wdtv live plus in my bedroom.

We shall see, I guess...

That would be a huge letdown. XBMC and thetvdb do an outstanding job with TV in my Bedroom unit. This is big for me, as far as replacing that unit...but something I could wait for.

IMDB does have TV data. I'm not sure if it is used but the information is there.

I'm not allowed to post a URL. Search a show on IMDB and you'll see a link "Full Episode List"

I guess we'll see very soon how this is handled.

I'm surprised how much data IMDB does have for TV shows. It's better than I thought. We shall see how it's handled! But obviously it would be best to be able to provide our own nfo, fanart, etc which I hope will eventually be available.

The problem I could see though is there appears to be no good way to scrape tv show episode data from IMDB. For example, for individual episodes we use the format SxxExx, which then matches up with TVDB. I don't see anywhere where that info is stored in IMDB, so no way to scrape episodes. I guess we should know soon enough, but I would definitely keep expectations in check for tv show functionality
post #50 of 3873
I don't think it scrapes IMDB but uses an API.

Mine has been delivered and is awaiting on me to get home. Not sure that I will have time to hook it up before I have to head to the Mule show, but I'm certainly going to try to hook it up and see how the interface looks/functions.

Mine just showed up at my office. I am eager to see how it compares to my Dune Bases.. This should be interesting. I will test against the Dunes to see if it can pull from Lan without stutter.
OOo, goody, reviews should start coming in.

I hooked it up, and the first thing it did was a firmware update. After a restart it asked me to register with my email. I hit cancel and it said you must enter a valid email.

Now I am waiting for it to open the USB/network icon. When it's done I will let you know more.

Can't wait to see tomorrow reviews posted here.
If it's good, I'll place an order with prime shipping at once, just bought a Dune base 3.0 @ duneplayer though.
