Because they DON'T sound beautiful. If you had a reference for accurate sound you likely wouldn't be a Bose fan. However, to each is own. Enjoy.

Not to mention their price/value...

What's that saying again? A (insert here) and his money are soon parted? Go to a decent audio store or even a Best Buy with Magnolia and listen to an equivalently priced system. I've never had a Bose beat the other system for the same price and even ones that go for 1/3rd the price!

Your thread was locked/deleted yesterday....which means the Moderator of the speaker forum didn't find it appropriate. One of the reasons is the redundant nature of "bose" as a generic topic. We have numerous existing threads on this brand. If you want honest feedback, then please review the existing threads. If you still want additional information, bump one an exsiting thread with your questions or comments.

The best way to search is using the advance search, title search only option and in this case, bose as your search word.

I do have the AM-5 that I use strickly for music, but not for home theater surround.

I guess nobody can give me a fair answer and just the fact that so many people talks bad like that about a brand and that brand is still standing that's telling a lot about how good that brand is...But thanks anyway...

I'm really happy with my Bose clock radio.

He is exactly the type of audience that bose caters to, the lazy ones too lazy to do their own research and expect to have everything hand fed to them. The fact that he thinks a brand exists and is popular proves that it's products must be good shows just how naive he is and how little real world experience he has. Maybe he'll grow up one day and finally realize that the opinion of "the masses" cannot be relied upon. Maybe he should read some Aristotle and understand why democracy doesn't work. Little hint to help him along: most people are stupid and ignorant. That's why bose still exists and remains popular.

That might be an accurate analogy if Apple were marketing its 1992 product line for 10x what you'd pay for a modern Windows based PC.

Both are boutique retailers offering more stylized products at a higher premium than similar/better performing competition.

Mainly I was just trying to capture the extent of this "premium".

To the OP:

I *used* to have a Bose Lifestyle 48 Series. I always thought it had decent sound for my room. I recently decided to move up to components mainly since I wanted to add Blu-Ray to my system and Bose Lifestyle does not support Blu Ray. Now, I'm a bit of a fanatic and decided to go inwall for all of my components and recently added Triad inwall speakers with an inwall Artison subwoofer. The first two movies I watched (Master and Commander, and Dark Knight)... all I can say is... WOW.

The sound quality is absolutely stunning and I am hearing things I have not heard before. I can definitely say the Acoustimass bass module is terrible. I am now hearing lows in my bass that were undetectable. As for the Triad speakers, being able to watch the TV with an explosion and hear the individual pieces of the explosion in crystal audio sound as they hit the ground is something that I never realized I was missing.

In my opinion, and from a prior Bose owner, it is absolutely not worth the money. What Bose does have though, is premiere marketing and they will continue to be a solid player based on their marketing strategy. If you are into marketing, personally Bose and Monster are probably the best at what they do: Great marketing campaign + Higher price point usually tends to make people believe they have high quality products. Once bought, the placebo effect takes place where folks believe they have great products because of the cost, so it's a very strong cycle and because of this they will continue to take market share and do well. It's when you set the sound up in your room and actually compare (which we did) is where you truly understand how poorly the products compare to similiarly priced items.

My 2 cents.

Don't the iphone and its competitors cost about the same?

What is the better performing competitor to the ipad? Is there an alternative right now?

If you're talking about their desktops/laptops then yes Apple does cost quite a bit more. But you don't get blue screens of death on a Mac nor a million security updates like a Windows PC.

I don't own any apple devices but have played with them quite a bit.

Nothing wrong with Bose. I been sporting the Bose Acoustimas 10 II for the last 9 years now. Works like day one.
I am looking into a new setup now, I will admit that. I have upgraded to a Yamaha RX-V1900 and I would like a little more for my ears.
I can tell you right now that whatever BOSE system you get...the bass module BLOWS! I have added a new sub to mine many years ago and it took care of my Bass needs.
Enjoy your system. Nothing else looks as sleek and stylish as a Bose speaker system. The quality is debatable but it isn't awful as some here like to point out.

Let's not turn this into a Mac vs PC debate.

I think he just meant that you can get more raw performance (CPU) bang for your buck with a PC.

How could you not think Bose is awful considering their flagship $4,000 system is inferior to the $300 Energy Take 5.1 + cheap ($99) receiver ?

Just because it's "still standing" doesn't mean anything.

I asked many times before: Have you heard other brands of speakers on your system?

Looks like you're starting to wise up.

Read the threads on this forum, the DIY and consumer sub forums. The amp, receiver, pre pro forum. TONS of info to learn.

yelnatsch517 is spot on that uneducated consumers are Bose best customers. If these same consumers were to realize the scam Bose has been getting away for years, NOW, they'll be out of business within a month. Guaranteed.
