My Best Buy had the blu-ray of Transformers playing on the C7000 with Game Mode = ON.
Maybe that is why I got such a good deal, no one was buying them.

I agree. I was totally turned off to buying a plasma with all the
IR/burn in talk. I read the CNET article on the C7000 and it started to change my mind. After about 3wks of research decided to get it and don't regret it
[yet ]

With all these edge-lit LED LCDs out now, I think the plasma has the PQ edge at reasonable price points. I was considering an older model CFT LCD but decide to try the plasma.

Still need to update firmware to 1026 and try the SM upgrade to 8000 for kicks.

Glad you made the purchase. It's a great set!
I bought the 58c7000 exactly a week ago. I have to agree with every single thing you said. I went through all those same questions and choices before deciding to get the C7000 for the same reasons you mentioned.

I must say that I am very disappointed at the forum self-proclaimed experts. All the problems you guys mentioned are either non-existent. No burn in, no buzz, picture quality is great.

Only thing that makes me regret not buying the C8000 is the looks. also the remote of the c7000 is very ugly for a tv of this caliber

Yeah. The remote isn't the best but I've seen way worse. This thread was ment to give buyers a decent review. Without getting all technical and boosting about numbers and flaws. One to many things on this site make you second guess buying. Sadly. 90% of the people who talk about "flaws." never owned the set they were talking about to begin with. One to many fan boys. So I figured I'd right a review. I'm a normal consumer with my doubts. Posted everything I could think about this set. Bad/good. And I'm still loving it. Very glad this thread has helped.

This thread has made me feel much better about my purchase. I just ordered the PN50C7000 and it gets delivered on Thursday. I am upgrading from a 32'' Samsung LCD. I got worried when all i read about is how careful you have to be with Plasmas and all this stuff... getting the TV began to feel more stressful than exciting but this thread has changed those feelings around a lot. Thanks!

That was me just a week ago. I put my tv on the wall with that samsung wall mount the 1000C version. and its perfect..

I am typing right now using it as a monitor. If it wasnt for this forum i wouldnt even know what burn in or IR is. I honestly never had any, although I have played games on it yet. But I use it as a monitor..

Make sure you have a screen saver though on the computer. I have no complains but that doesnt mean not to be careful. Only thing I can say is that you dont need to baby it or be some kinda of expert to keep it working fine. Just use it normally for whatever you want to do you sould be fine.

You'd have a much higher chance getting IR and burn in using it as a monitor bs games. Still not getting any. You won't be getting any at all lol. Good set. Great price

BTW, the samsung wall mount doesnt work like it should i guess the panel its to big. Let me make it clear that is safe, only thing is.. that mechanism to keep the tv off the wall to access the rear doesnt work. its some kind of measurement problem. However, it is still easy to access the rear because you can hold it up with one hand and change with the other. It really is like a picture frame.

what about Do you get any buzzing? I certainly cant hear any with the regular volume, so i tried with mute on and still nothing. Then I increase the "cell light" to max all the way to 20. thats the only way I heard any buzz

Given, that after calibration the picture settings should put "cell light" at around 14-18 it should never be a problem. I used it at 18 many times and no buzz, i only get it when its at 20 and I still need to really lower the volume or mute.

changing the cell light does not affect the buzz.
most people who have reported buzz actually say it buzzers louder on darker scenes.

I've never heard anyone say it's louder during dark screens. I've heard the exact opposite.

I've read those posts, and my best guess is that they got defective sets. My plasmas buzz louder on bright scenes, just as all plasma sets usually do.

you should read more posts.
most people with series 7/8 Samsung 2010 plasmas say the directional buzz is louder during dark screens.

People said the same thing when the Panny black rising reports first started coming in. Some Samsung plasma sets do buzz louder on dark scenes, it has been widely reported enough to not be just isolated defects, sure it is only a handful of units, but all the reports are consistent.

Your set doesn't do it, so be happy.

UPDATE. I have a little over 1500 hours on this set. It is still performing great. IR seems non existent.

Good to hear. I have logged a little over 1600hrs, on my 58C8000. Don't have any problems with IR, and I play a TON of video games.

My set is used for 90% gaming. I don't really use the 3D at all. No buzz also. Which is a bit of a surprise because I hear everyone talking about plasma buzz. Heat from day 1 has cut in half as well.

Wasn't there a way I could change my set to a C8000? Idk why but I've been debating trying it out. Curious to see about having MJC.

Good to hear!!! Think how scared you were to buy a plasma. Look at you now. Gaming on a plasma. You shouldn't do that. J/K.

Yeah. I know. I was actually pretty against plasma. Now. I prefer it over any and all tech. LCD is just to slow for me now.

the "TV Guy" will favor the set that gets him the most commission $$$ ... which is not necessarily the higher priced TV!!!

True. Although the price of this set hasn't changed much. Which is just a bit surprising giving the new models will be rolling out pretty soon.

How many people here actually use the 3D? I find myself pretty much never using it.

No prob,
I also hardly use the 3D feature. I've maybe used it twice.
