Here's a Blu-ray list that's sure to please regarding eye-candy:
The Shawshank Redemption
There Will be Blood
As I stated, I had rather watch paint dry, than almost any of those. Only marginally would I view "Shawshank" or "Sin City", or "There Will Be Blood". I have seen all three but do not put them anywhere near the films I noted, even merely considering BD releases. cf. below for an explanation as to my meaning. (Although I hear "Planet Earth" was a good documentary- I neglected documentaries on my list intentionally.)
I neither missed the point nor did I name films that do not follow the entirety of the OPs written thoughts, to wit: "recommend top 10 movies to watch with projector" and "just wondering what would be your opinions for first movies to watch". Although I did name only films released on BD, as is likely he meant "eye candy" in the accepted sense.
I gave him my opinion as to some excellent titles that I would and do watch on my projector. Personally I would rather watch a DVD version of "Dr. Mabuse, der Spieler " or "Das Testament des Dr. Mabuse", among many others, than the 'movies' you named. But I am a Fritz Lang fan. . . His query was about opinion and I gave mine, even if it does not follow δόξα.
In keeping with spirit of others' posts I did mention only BDs! (And again, I grant, in all likelihood the unstated premise of the OPs thread.) My list is of what I consider great films on BD. And a part of my consideration is always the beauty of the film qua crafted story and acting. I think that the projector enjoyment for me is seeing a huge representation of a nice picture of a wonderful film.
So, I enjoy what I consider films on my projector, BDs or not and the huge image and decent to great picture clarity (a nebulous term, I guess) are what makes a PJ worth having for me. These are my opinions but I hope the OP gives them a look.
If not he got an honest opinion that was worth what it cost.
I very well understand what others see as nice to just look at but for me 'eye candy' is seeing Ingrid Bergman say to Dooley Wilson "play, 'As Time Goes By'", in 1080p.
