Hmm, question, is there a way to replay missions you've already finished kinda like in SC and BW? I'm mostly testing it on various hardware right now rather than actually playing so I'm just replaying the first mission over and over to compare FPS. The campaign I'll finish over the weekend. Sadly, I can't call in sick at work tomorrow.

Wasn't lucky enough to get into the beta so this is my first try at SC2 and so far, I'm liking it. Interface and controls seem to be more user-friendly and AI seems much improved over the original. Surprisingly, it's working fine at low-medium settings on an Atom 330/ION HTPC. Next, I'll be trying it on the Core i3 with crappy Intel graphics. Although, I'm quite surprised a Core i7-860+GTS 250 wasn't enough for consistent 60FPS on 1680x1050 Ultra (High texture). Still fluid though. I've found 30FPS enough for smooth gameplay.

Yes, once you pass the 3rd mission it goes into a bit more of a sandbox mode. You can replay missions you've already completed on harder difficulties and try to get the alt-objectives and complete achievements.

Liking this so far, but man oh man do I have some learning to do. Doing decent in the campaign so far, but my few matches vs the AI have been pretty messy. Definitely need to figure out what race I want to play and sit down and work on a solid build order or two and start learning these tech tree's. They make it look so easy in pro matches :P

Wow! I totally suck on the multiplayer side. I played Terrain against some Protos dude. I thought I was doing all great in the beginning! Had a ton of resources, had some barracks' up, some missle launchers...

Protos guy comes in and attacks one of my three bases. I totally erradicate his force and send in what's left of mine to "clean his clock". What a big huge freaking mistake! He has all these other guys and spaceships sitting back at his fortress of destroy me and lays waste to my entire offensive squad. He then sends this second wave in and totally erradicates all of my defensive units.

Next time I'm going to spend 0 time on defensive units. He melted them down like butter. They served no purpose.

Must...resist.....to buy.....this game.....yet.....

Guide to installing SC2.

1.) Lots and lots of patience. This game took about 3 hours to install on latest hardware from Disk. Not sure about digital download time to install.

2.) Change your 7.1 surround configuration to 5.1 surround or after waiting 3 hours you will launch the game to no sound. I hope they patch this soon because I have two sad speakers in the back that can't enjoy SC2 cranked up to earth shaking volume!

3.) Enjoy! SC2 is awesome.

I know, I know but I have alot of games in my backlog and I want to replay SC1 + BW first (doing first campaign now). I'm also thinking about changing my computer so I'd like to play SCII on my new hardware

Played the first 3 missions last night. It's the straight dope.

Graphically, it's basically an upgraded version of Warcraft 3 with a sci-fi skin. Kinda cartoony & bulbous. Looks really nice at max settings, but not cutting edge by any stretch.

Gameplay is pure starcraft with some strong rpg elements.

Cutscenes are fantastic.

Hmmm....I wonder why my disk installation took so long. Anyone else install from disk? Just curious how long it took.

Yes - 5.1 is the way to go.

How fast is your internet connection? I think SC2 downloaded a 40~50MB patch at the same time so if you've got slow internet, that's bound to affect it. I installed from the digital download, too. Only my "workstation" has an optical drive installed.

Took me about 10 minutes to install off the disc. Then had to download the updates which took about 4 minutes. Something doesn't sound right if it took 3 hours to install

Picked up a copy at my local Gamestop yesterday. I've only had time to play the first few missions in the campaign but so far I'm liking it a lot. Hearing those familiar song themes brings back the memories....

One of the first things I tried was continuously left clicking on a critter until it... just try it for those who don't know.

I've actually read of other people having the same problems installing. One guy on another forum i frequent just said that his disc-install has been running for over 30 minutes and is not even at 50%. Another person said his hit ~%35 and just stopped.

There may have been some issues with poorly pressed discs?

FWIW, even if you bought it from retail you can still use the digital download.

I'm probably going to get it for the SP. But from the beta for this and RUSE, I preferred RUSE. It has a much slower pace and seems to reward strategy over APM.

This actually seems to be pretty common. I've even heard reports of "installer not found" when using the discs.

Hmmm....mine stoped at 36% the first time and then I stopped it and re-installed and it took about 3 hours. I am starting to think you are right about the poor disc or maybe some other weird driver issue windows 7.

Glad to hear the digital download doesn't take too long in case I have to blow away the current install and re-install.

I wasn't actually paying any attention to Tychus while he was talking. Just got distracted by the holo dancer over his shoulder.

Played my first few games online last night and was happy to discover I'm not the biggest noob on the block. Went 2-1, so a decent start. The practice league is annoying though. Only did 1 match in practice league as the match speed is ridiculously slow and the game dragged on for over an hour.

If anyone wants to play some matches let me know. I'll probably be playing a bit this weekend.

I am actually doing well today!!! I've realized that I don't need to build the biggest most expensive piece of bad assery to win.

The resource buildup Is so key. And if you really want to utilize Terran air forces you need at least 4 gas factories!

Honestly, does anyone play any other race then Terran in this game?

I've played about 10 matches now, and 9/10 against Terran.

Considering this is the first time many people have played it's hard to deviate from the familiar.

The tech tree and units are very familiar to people because they spend the whole campaign using them.

Give it some time people will branch out.
