I have a USB 1.1 device that is about 15 feet from computer. I understand that I can't use a straight usb 1.1 or 2.0 cable without interference because of the 1.1 standard, which allows only for 10 ft (3m) length between computer and device. The active extenders I've seen are about 16 feet i.e. 16 feet of cable with some type of amplifier at the end. Does the 16 foot cable length exceed the 1.1 protocol, implying I would need to daisy chain two 10 ft extenders if I could find them?
