Tekken x Street Fighter

Announced at Comic Con, Namco and Capcom have come together to make not one but TWO fighting games based on their premiere fighting franchises.

This thread is only about the Namco developed Tekken x Street Fighter (TxSF), which will be based on Tekken 6's visuals and 3D movement gameplay. For info on the other title being made by Capcom, here is a link to the Street Fighter x Tekken thread.

No other details have been given, but for fun NollaN at the TZ forums put up this theory matchup chart based on characters from both games who are similar to one another. SF characters are on the left, Tekken characters are on the right.

Same here! Too bad there's no gameplay shown for this one yet, but as long as they get it right.

Good news: Namco's version of the two cross-over games will be first shown at GamesCon:

Quote:

The Street Fighter-Tekken crossover games have been announced at the San Diego Comic-Con, but so far, we've only been seeing half of the fighting game clash, namely Street Fighter X Tekken. The other game, Tekken X Street Fighter, will be shown at GamesCom in a couple of weeks.

Tekken X Street Fighter will be set in the Tekken 6 world where the Street Fighter crew will be given a Tekken makeover, the same way the Tekken guys are getting an SF overhaul for Street Fighter X Tekken.

Taking place in its bastion in Cologne, Germany, GamesCom will see footages from Tekken X Street Fighter and for the first time, be playable for eight lucky attendees, randomly selected by the dojo masters themselves: Yoshinori Ono and Katsuhiro Harada. Winners receive special prizes, but everyone there will receive giveaways, so there's plenty of fun to go around.

Will you be making it to the big show? The Tekken X Street Fighter presentation will be held August 19th in Konrad-Adenauer-Saal of the Kölnmesse.

i'm a fan of both series, though not sure how they are going meld a 4 button masher with a 6 button masher and visa versa

personally i'd like to see, kof x sf x ba tosh x ss x mk x marvel x x-men

that would be a fatal mix

They had a four attack button for SF characters in the SNK crossover, so in this game it shouldn't be a problem. With Tekken characters in a SF engine, I imagine that they greatly limit the number of moves altogether (some Tekken characters have hundreds of them), then map the ones that are left onto the six buttons.

not to mention the 2 different styles of game play, sf doesn't have the button combo's that tekken has..

so you can't compare either game to each other..

I don't see your point. Every Tekken character has their own combos from each other, and when the SF characters are plugged in they will have enough attacks added to their normal signature moves to compete.

the point was they were 2 different gaming platforms.

That's why they are making 2 games, a SFxT and a TxSF. Obviously there are major changes / compromises that need to be made to the characters to fit into the gameplay style of the opposing game. 2 games means the purists of either game shouldn't feel the need to QQ about what is done to their characters.

Namco's producer confirmed that a new Tekken is coming out before this title (I'll give you an additional tidbit - don't be surprised if it is this year in the arcade). Also, here are early beta pictures of Ryu with a SF4 comparison, though he's currently in Paul's gi until they make a full model:
