.wtv support - windows 7 media center TV recordings

embedded ASS/SSA subtitle inside MKVs - subtitle fonts/colors/positioning (libass?) support

supports read/write from HFS+ formatted hard drive - (Mac)

supports playback of BD ISO - can select which title you want to play from a list - can also select different chapters - can also browse and play a specific file

supports full DVD menus either from an ISO or folders

go to a specific time in a video - ie...by typing 0020 to get to 20 minutes into the video

Boxee Box can down sample a DTS stream to Stereo output for scenarios not using a receiver

Boxee Box acts as a NAS via SMB (R/W)

This is 'NOT' confirmed by anyone from Boxee - but Amazon's pre-order page says the BBox is "DLNA 1.5 (DMP)" supported

The box has 4 audio modes:
Auto - Simultaneously output from HDMI, S/PDIF and analog. Audio is downmix to 2 channels PCM. This is the default
HDMI - HDMI only
S/PDIF - S/PDIF only
Analog - Analog only

Boxee remote is not back lit - and it will use a CR2032 battery

Most any USB HDD can be used on BBox - powered or unpowered

SDHC cards up to 32Gbs - "possible" SDCX support in the future with proper licensing

USB Hub support - and multiple HDDs att'd the the Hub

Cold Boot up time - 50 seconds

Ext4 HDD format support

Firmware updates will be automatic and mandatory

USB Keyboard support

Support for USB adapter for MCE2 compatibel IR Remote

DRM support - has all required software and hardware - (This one confuses me)--I had thought there was no support, but it's clearly stated on AVS by a Boxee Dev.

10/100 support only - no Gigabyte ethernet

Remote is 'English only' characters - GUI supports other languages/fonts ei...file names - subtitles

Internal Fan size - 30mm - internal fan noise is virtually non-existant from 50cms (approx 20 inches) away - (-23db) - considering 20bds is the lowest average detectable sound a young person with no hearing loss can usually hear - that's pretty quiet!

Upon 1st power up - an update will most likely take place

The BBox will ID DVD 'Folders' as one title

Forced subtitles is on the "to do" list - and should be fixed/offered soon

10.1 Flash support

The "Samba/not properly scraping data" bug should not be an issue in the Linux based BBox (may need 'Read Only" access)

Jump to options - 30 sec jumps - long jumps based on clip/content length (10 min. on 90 min. clips/content) - jump to specific time line location - ie...entering 0026 takes you to 26 mins. into the content

BD Folder structure support (and BD ISO)

AVCHD support will be added in a future update

Multiple BBoxes will 'each' need to scrape the data base - no way to scrape one 'shared' library with multiple BBoxes

23.976Hz support

Apple AFP support - if not on initial release - will be updated/supported soon

The RF Boxee remote and an IR/USB/MCE2 compatible remote will be supported

This is great, will add to 1st or 2nd post on the 1st page of the thread, thanks.

thanks tigerdirect infomercial is a crock. The box is not hooked up, I bet they are just running the Boxee GUI off a windows or other box. Its the current interface, nothing new, nothing changed. Its a demo of the CURRENT windows software, and a look at a demo box that isn't hooked up. Nothing new, move along people.

There won't be pre-announcements until tomorrow. We'll all just have to wait I assume Engadget are live blogging the event.

OMG, I haven't been keeping up with this in the past month or so. GOOD news, thanks for the reply.

If they were smart (and wanted to keep everything undercover), they shipped all of the BB's with v.99 of the firmware, and on the 10th, they'll open up the site to download the new 1.0 version (with all of the new features).

Man I just cant image what tommorrow will bring in the way of WOW! I mean we have seen all the hardware, we have seen all the features, but the content providers are not listed at all. I want to think they have some MAJOR news but I mean we have ONE day left before the unavailing and no-one has heard anything. I mean Apple is the most secret of companies and their stuff gets leaked.

So I have a feel we wont be WOWED! Tomorrow.

Also, of course, zero mention of Netflix, they don't even bring it up or discuss it.

I know that some don't care about Netflix but a device like this that tries to be an all-in-one device really needs access to it considering the tens of millions of US subscribers who depend on it for a good chunk of their entertainment every week.

Honestly I dont think the Netflix deal\\app is finished. I know I saw a few posts saying they were working on the application for it. IMOHO its not going to be there at launch, but sometime after, that is unless a midnight deal\\app push is done. Hulu Plus, Amazon, Netflix are some fo the most wnted apps, Boxee knows this and I am sure are working to get a deal in place.

The software does look like the beta, which is not that surprising as every other unit (that was shown online) up to this point has had the beta as well. Im guessing our true 1st look at 1.0 will be tomorrow, unless a review gets out before then.

It did have power and an HDMI cable going to it, but you never really saw him using the remote while the menu changing. Besides if there is a new GUI and it won't be released until tomorrow, he would not have been allowed to show it yet anyway.

Are you a Mom, Dad, or student? If so, you can get prime free for a period of time. Students for a year, and parents for 3 months.

Whos to say that not what they did I dont know for a fact, but I thought the same thing. The update will be 1.0 after the full release tomorrow. This way even if someone did get thier hands on it, there would be nothing really to share. I am positive however that the Boxee Box beta testers are using 1.0 in some form or fashion, but since the group is most likely very small and controlled, it has kept the leaks to nill.

Apple leaks usually are on purpose to select folks ...There are cases of those mistake leaks, but that usually leads to people being fired. Seeing as there are only ~33 employees they can keep a pretty tight lid on the leaks .....

I'm not using Prime either but mine is showing the 16th through the 18th for delivery with the Amazon free shipping. I just hope it gets shipped from a center here on the East coast. If it does and it gets shipped tomorrow, it should only take two days for ground delivery.

There will always be someone who updates a device without having it connected to a UPS, and then there will be a power failure.
I have all my electronics connected to a UPS, but even when updating devices at friends and clients, I always bring a UPS to connect the device to. You never know when a power glitch, brownout or blackout will occur. And if it happens while updating a device, it has the potential to cause issues.

Yep - thanks to Eli -- and jmpage2 for reminding me about the adv'd search - plugged in Eli's handle and spent a little time summerizing it

One thing I may have forgot is FLAC support - confirmed on the Boxee forum by 'dan' (a boxee team member)

So do you honestly think that at midnight they flip the switch and the version of software currently on the BOxee box that ships will be replaced with a brand NEW 1.0 with a whole list of Apps not available to anyone right now?

yes, and now they are all listed in one place for everyone to easily read without having to scour 2800 posts or search for something and have to then sort through those results.

Quick Question(s) -

I have a movie folder on my WHS with 200 movies. Each movie is a folder with the movie, then the scraped info:

Where does boxee store its scraped info?
Will Boxee be able to read my info within each movie folder?
What is the interval that it scrapes (every on/off, new movies added, etc)?
Can you disable the scraping feature, and use my own movie info?
Lets says the scrape did not find my movie (Bollywood, non english, etc) what options do I have now?

Thanks
S

Yes, it is called smart marketing - you don't know what you are getting, and you are excited about it.
Then, you boot it up, update it, and see... Nothing too exciting...
It happened with ALL the major media players released this year - including Popbox, Google TV, Vulkano...
Can't wait to hear the first feedback on Boxee, as either Boxee or Logitech Revue will stay in our house... Boxee has a very nice set of features advertised, but did they deliver them?

No clue this is a new company, so is there a possibility, yes there is....This would be goign the extra step in protecting the software, especially if they are going down to the wire with last minute changes.

Well know in a little more than 24 hours how the new interface looks and what premium content providers have been added (if any).

Their not - at least as of about 1-1/2 weeks ago - I believe I remember hearing that the BBox will update when it's initially turned on - so I'm almost sure this will be the v1.0 update/download -- pretty good way to secure v1 from being leaked, imho

I agree its a pretty cool way to prevent any leaks. But as far as the beta testers - are they doing this all internally? i.e. none of the beta testers are really using the latest version that Boxee has at any moment in time? That seems a little scary.

1) It was mentioned in this thread I believe, but I dont remember the actual answer.
2) I currently have a few movies in folders, Boxee grabs the information just fine. I believe it takes the Folder name to try to scrape.
3) There are settings in the Beta which you let you set the intervals (you can do "live" scrapping. You can turn this feature off.
4) I do not belive Boxee as of yet does "local" scrapping, the developers are aware this is a wanted feature and may add it in the future.
5)You can manually search for any title that Boxee doesnt find.

I disagree - it is not a cool way to prevent any leaks. It is an indication of the issues that they have/had with the software development. Sure, you can wrap it in Apple-like marketing cloud, but the thing was delayed so many times that it would be impossible to attribute it all simply to good marketing. I would not be surprised if the 1.0 version will still be buggy as it comes out. Too bad I have to go on a trip - I would be preordering the box now as well...
