They could not cancel my order for some reason even though my card has yet to be charged, but she gave me a $20 promo coupon to cover the shipping cost because she saw it as me paying for 2 day shipping at the 1 day shipping price. I guess I'll use it on my second boxee if I like the 1st.

They should have scheduled the event for last night. The day before release, not the day of release.

Wasn't this the day of release for a while? Meaning in Canada it went on sale. And since BestBuy Canada is their official launch partner, it was expected to be in the store today?

Unlike Amazon who has to ship all their items which takes at least a day.

Possibly. I don't know about this for sure. I'm assuming the OP got as far as as configuring the network settings for the Box... and that Boxee may be holding off on allowing updates until after tonight's release event. This is definitely speculation on my part but seems reasonable.

Build date 9-20 pretty much confirms that they haven't pushed 1.0 out yet. Surprises will still be in store for us!

I'm guessing at 9.21 firmware, this is probably a lot like the beta software. Hopefully tonite after their bash they'll be able to allow you to go to 1.0

i preordered on the very first day with one day shipping it still says
"not yet shipped" WTF

so i canceled that order and ordered another one with one day shipping
status now says "shipping soon" Delivery Estimate: November 11, 2010
hope that is a good sign *crosses finger*

This is the beta everyone has been using. There may be a few tweaks here and there, but for the most part Ver o.9.21.xx is the one we currently have on our computers.

With that info it does sound like the Tiger Direct video was actually using the Boxee Box they had on the table.

The latest beta firmware for the desktop app is 0.9.23.15885 - released around 11-2-10 for the VUDU app addition (and couple other minor additions)

Prior to that was 0.9.23.13692 released some where around 8-23-10

BustBuy.ca says out of stock -- but checking in store availability shows almost all 30 stores searched starting in the Niagara Falls Ont. area has the BBox in stock

You can watch hulu on the current pc release. It just shows up as the shows or movies.
