Panasonic DMP-BDT100 3D Blu-ray player - Page 2

For those of you all using this player with a Mitsubishi DLP I have some questions questions:
1. If I go into settings and set it for checkerboard and then when I play a 3D BR it will be 3D, right?
2. Once I set checkerboard in the panny is it permenetly set until I change it?
3. What if I watch a 2D movie, how does this work? Does the panny know what is and isn't 3D or it is always putting video out as checkerboard? (not good for mitsubishi as resolution is less so obviously that would suck for 2d movies).
Basically I want to be able to set the settings in the panny to checkerboard but only have it out checkerboard when a 3D BR is being played and when I put in a 2D movie I want a non-checkerboard signal coming into my tv.
You leave it set to checkerboard and the player will know if it is a 3D or 2D blu-ray disk.

Looks like the 107 includes the YL10 dongle.

My bdt100 came with my p65vt25, my first BR player. It's been great, easy setup and I'm enjoying the streaming from netflix.

So it looks like there is no difference in the player itself. I have the BDT100 also and have been happy with it. My wireless solution is not the dongle but a wireless bridge. Allows me to run a hardwire from the bridge to the back of the player. Then, I don't have to worry about having the dongle hanging out the front and having to have the front access door open all the time.

I as well have been enjoying the DMP-BT100 with the P65VT25, both in 2D and 3D.

Interested in the Divx HD support, I converted some HD movies to Divx HD and put them onto a 500GB USB drive formatted to exFAT (to hold files larger than 4GB). Started the player, clicked on USB, and came to a window with my files. Scrolled to a movie and selected it. Load took about 6 seconds and the movie started. It looked awesome! Flawless playback. Would have thought it was a Blu Ray disc if I had just walked in.

...Then, after about 3 minutes, it stops, and goes back to the Menu. Tried again. Same. Tried other formats. Tried other movies. DIVX HDs, DIVXs, AVIs. All would play and then stop suddenly.

I contacted Panasonic via email and got a quick response:

Quote:

Thank you for your inquiry, we do apologize for any inconvenience caused. Based on the information that you have provided it would indicate that there is a compatibility issue.Ensure that the video meet the requirements
Certified to the DivX Home Theater Profile.Video Number of stream: Up to 1 Codec: DIV3, DIV4, DIVX, DV50, DIV6 FPS (Frame Per Second): Up to 60 fps Audio Number of stream: Up to 8 Format: MP3, MPEG, AC3 Multi channel: AC3 is possible. MPEG multi is 2 ch conversion. GMC (Global Motion Compensation) is notsupported. Picture may stop if the DivX files are greater 2gb.

Picture may stop if the DivX files are greater 2gb? Sonofa...

That's a little disclaimer that would have saved me a lot of aggravating hours. Anyone else try something similar? Success? Would like to extend the possibilities of this awesome Blu Ray player.

Great support by Panny tho. Got back to me very quickly, even tho the news was disappointing.

i am buying a new panasonic 65 inch plasma 3D tv. there is a package that comes with the 100 player. i know that the 350 has dual outputs (dont need them) and that the 100 has no wi-fi (i have cat-5 cable right on hand so no problem). my question is whether anyone has an opinion on whether the 100's performance/flexibility is a downgrade from the 350 (other than above features which i dont need)? i am spending a bunch of $$ on the new TV, new receiver (denon 4311), new speakers, etc and dont wont a weak link in the chain. if the 100 is a weak link please suggest a better 3D BD player (the panny 350 or ????)

Try converting your files to AVC-HD, which will give it a BD file structure. Hopefully that will work. Look forward to your reply if you try it.

Picked up the Panasonic BDT105 from Costco last night. It is indeed the same as the BDT100 except for the addition of an HDMI cable. Swapped out my old BD player and connected the BDT105 to my WD73/C9 and changed output to checkerboard, and in less than 10 minutes I was watching the Monster House Blu-ray in 3D. Plays jaw dropping 3D beautifully on this DLP set. I have my emitter plugged into the emitter jack on the back of the DLP instead of the 3D adapter that came with the Mitsubishi 3D starter Pack, so I don't have to swap HDMI cables between devices and it works just fine.
I have my Directv plugged into the 3D adapter and today I watched Channel N3D on demand and all I can say is WOW! DLP was made for 3D.

Thanks for the advice taz291819. Haven't tried that yet. Will give it a go over the weekend and report back.

Also, tried burning an MKV directly to a DVD+R DL as a UDF file system. Bd player didn't recognize it. I'm sure I did something wrong. Anyone have any advice on to making an MKV playable without having to convert it back to DVD?

Just upgraded from a DMP-BD80 to a DMP-BDT100 and found out my remote control won't control my NAD receiver but the old remote used to. Weird. Any ideas how to get it to work?

Also I can confirm that it doesn't play MKV files but plays DivX stuff correctly which the DMP-BD80 doesn't (compresses the height hence why I upgraded).

Firmware 1.22 is out. My 100 updated itself over the network this evening. It crashed and froze when it rebooted. A hard power cycle fixed it. Anybody know what this is supposed to fix?

Well. this is my first post and I've been lurking around trying to learn what I could through searches and browsing. I've still got a couple of questions about the Player though. I've got a HL61A750 61" Sammy. I just recently received my Panasonic BDT100 3d Blu ray Player. I haven't decided on the Shades I wanna get yet, but just for simplicity I'm leaning toward the DLP link shades. Probally the Optomas. My first question is has anyone had any luck downloading the latest firmware and copying it on a dvd+r rather than a CD+r. The firmware on my player is saying 1.04 so based on that I'm assuming it needs a update. My second question is looking at the prices of the Wireless adapter from Panasonic, couldnt I just buy a second Cable modem to sit behind the TV and straight wire it from a modem with a ethernet cable? I can get a cable modem cheaper than I can the adapter and I wouldn't have the wireless nonsense to deal with. Any advice is much appreciated. If this is the wrong place for this feel free to move this mods. Thanks. Jeff

I have the same questions. I just got the 100 and I see most are recommending the 300 or 350 for a 3D Blu-Ray player? The model I got with my package was the 107 that included the WiFi adaptor. The only other feature advantages i can see to the 350 are dual HDMI out, 7.1 analog audio out, and DLNA support (not sure if I need this). What about audio and video processing, are the 100 and 350 identical?

I'm confused... I've read on multiple sites (reviews) that the BMP-DBT100 plays MKV, but what type of USB drive if possible? Someone said flash...

Quote:

File playback only extends as far as an attached USB device. My standard assortment of AVIs and MKVs could all be played once moved to a USB flash drive.

And...

BD, DVD, CD audio, AVCHD, Divx Plus HD, MKV, MP3 and JPEG playback are all supported by the DMP-BDT100. Playback of media files can be done via the SD Card slot or USB port.

My 100 came in today, part of my package deal with 3d kit and TV.

The 100 does not see my .mkv files on the USB stick. This sucks most of my files are .MKV. Where did you read that it plays them?

The manual says the 100 supports up to a 128GB device, I tried a 500gig and it said not supported.

USB has to be FAT 12, FAT 16, or FAT 32 only, I formatted my USB 16gig stick with FAT 32 extended (something like that to handle the over 2 gig files, i think basic fat goes up to 2 gig only) all I know my 4-5 gig files would not copy to the standard FAT 32.

Before I forget also when I plugged the 500 gig drive into the 100 it just clicked, not enough power, so I plugged the drive into a powered USB hub then the hub into the 100, no more clicking but would not recognize the drive (too big), I have some 128 gig drives around but it will not play .mkv files, wont even see them.

Is there some sort of patch/firmware somewhere to get this to play .mkv files????

I do not know how to get the 3d .mkv left and right files to play on my 42" gt Panasonic plasma? I wonder if the TV will see this and play them?

Thanks

I just got my new Panasonic 58VT58 yesterday, but the BDT100 is on backorder. I was able to watch some BD movies using a PS3 Slim and they looked good. I was considering selling the BDT100 when it comes in and just using the PS3 slim. Would I be giving up anything with picture quality going that route?

I quoted a few comments above and those were from Google searches. Lots of reviews said they had good luck getting it to play MKV files... Probably because they used the correct USB drive, which I'm still trying to figure out

Same here. I only have a 500 HDD that I formatted into FAT and tried it, it loaded the pictures I had but didn't recognize MKV files. I believe a flash drive is needed but no one can confirm this?

I also wonder if there is some patch/firmware to play MKV. Maybe I should look into another blu-ray reader as the PS3 is not the best for 3D movies due to something with audio... At least that's what I've been reading in the forums, NOT from experience. Any suggestions? Although it sucks because the blu-ray/3D player comes with the bundle.

Hmmm...Firmware updates, in my experience, can be adventures. Still, I've done plenty of them (particularly with my Toshiba first generation HD DVD player), but hesitate to do them for the hell of it.

I have a Vierra Link issue that I'd like to eradicate: When using the DVD player with the VT25 remote, there's a icon display that needs to be manually disengaged. Does anyone know if this update addresses that?

You don't need another cable modem, you just need an ethernet switch.

I don't think there was audio issues with games, I think it's when playing a blu-ray or just a 3D blu-ray that you don't get the true audio quality.

I recently seen a post in the 3D Source Components that explained this...

I put one half-sbs.mkv on my USB and a 720pmovie.mkv and a .mp3 and the unit saw the .mp3 but not the .mkv files, my 42" gt did not see it either but also saw the .mp3

does not look good, I think I might just sell the 100, I just received it but I have my PS3 and do not need this.
So I've tried all sorts of converters in my attempt to play 720p or 1080p via USB and have not been successful yet.

I recommend that everyone follow these directions on converting MKV to AVI files: http://www.my-guides.net/en/guides/g...o-files-to-avi

However, after following these directions the only resolution I can get to play from a USB memory stick is 480p. Has anyone had better luck? If so, please share.

I have been looking into this player and have come across this website FirmwareInfo.com and according to it, their "Donation Supported" version of their "Hacked" Firmware enables MKV playback along with other features (Region Free & etc.) I however do not know the legitimicay of it, their is a "limited free" version to trial out which only enables the region free part.
