Where the hell in the UK can I get the Samsung C7900 3D Blu Ray player??
It's on amazon.com but that one won't have the region coding for the UK, which is region B for blu ray discs and region 2 for DVDs..
The one on amazon.com, is it possible to make it region free??
The reason I am after the c7900 and not the c6900 is purely for the 2nd hdmi output (the audio only one) for connecting up to an av receiver that doesn't support the v1.4 hdmi leads

Would this idea work??

If I bought the c7900 from amazon.com and buy the c6900 from amazon.co.uk and swapped the internal blu ray drives over and re-sell the c6900 as a region A/1 3d blu ray player??

The reason to go to this length is to save spending a £1000 or therebouts on a av receiver that supports the 3d/hdmi v1.4

Would this bit of DIY work or is samsung releasing a c7900 over here in the UK??

Can't you just get the Panny BD player? It's got 2 hdmi ports.

I am wanting to know if this can be done??

The players in question are:

Samsung BD-C6900 3D Blu Ray Player
Samsung BD-C7900 3D Blu Ray Player

i am wanting to take out the internal drive inside the C7900 and put the drive from the C6900 into the C7900 player to make the C7900 player a region B/2 player

the reason for this is cos the C7900 is only on the American samsung site, the only player on the UK site is the C6900

the reason I am after the C7900 is cos it is the only 3D samsung player available which has 2 hdmi outputs which solves the problem of the HD audio options via a standard av receiver that is not compatible with 3D..

I am not interested in the panasonic 3D blu ray player cos I have a samsung 3D tv that has anynet+ and I want that feature to be kept..

Please can anyone help, give info etc..

Thanks,

Unlike DVD region codes, Blu-ray region codes are verified only by the player software, not by the optical drive's firmware.

I was in the same boat wanting HD audio through my Okyo SR-705 amplifier. Considered getting the panny player or upgrading my amplifier.

After doing some research i found that thanks to the samsungs re-encode feature - HD audio can be encoded and transmitted at 1.5mbs through the players optical output. I know this is not true HD audio but the extensive research that i did suggested that most home cinema buffs do not have the equipment to really see any benefit in the full bandwidth that HD audio brings. To see the benefit of HD audio you are talking having equipment that costs in the region of £10,000 and up.

Decided to go with the samsung c6900 and keep my existing amp. it sounds amazing to be honest
