Steve, why haven't you added me to your Facebook yet sir! LOL

I have been in some of Dennis' theaters but which one of his are you referring to? His personal one, the demo room at his studio or one of his creations?

Not a fan of Jenkin's decor personally. I don't want to dis it - it certainly is elaborate and seems to be high quality - just too much Ceasar's Palace for my taste. To each their own.

I will be humble and just nominate myself for best entry hallway to a theater.

Mike, I have two words for your theater: evil, sick. A job well done, great floor and risors.

I think you just don't want us to rob you Dennis. Hey, I know your designs and installations are a little different then Russ Hershelmann Designs (hometheaterguy), but have you ever sat in his home theater? I heard it is something else.
I have not been in Russ' personal theater. I have been in a couple he has done.

Yeah, that is a bit of a shock.

But not all Infinity speakers are yucky. I still to this day miss my old Infinity speakers and would love to have them back if only I had a place to put them. Doubt the wife will let me get another 660 sq ft room.

You could always get a new wife. Old speakers, new wife, sort of has a poetic charm.

RH-The inventor of the chair rail "oh no!", Dennis you are past that, don't!

I don't add anyone to my Facebook. It is dead like the Cylons on Battlestar Galactica!

I will start adding folks to Facebook when the Bland stops bashing Theta!

Why just one when you can have four?

"The BEST home theater in AVS " to me would be mine and to all of you yours. I can look at the rest and they sure look purty but the only one that gives me any satisfaction is mine
post #71 of 143
Alan. Shame on you. You really need to rethink your position on this.

First, if it were not for theirs, you wouldn`t have yours.

Second. I know you fairly well and you know me, and I KNOW both you and I take great pleasure when equipment we sell ends up in a great HT room whether we build it or someone else does.

BTW. I think you fully concur in the second and were just trying to be funny. Yuk Yuk You should leave the humor to THE BLAND and Steve B.

To me all of the theaters mentioned thus far are some of the best examples of why all of us are here at AVS, these guys are the coaches of our sport, they give us motivation and drive as their accomplishments push us to do things we might not otherwise attempt or even consider. I admire and respect everything that they do in order to take that next step, so to them I say thank you for sharing your passion for A/V and taking the rest of us on such a fantastic ride.

Alan. You should if possible attend some of the various AVS meets. Food and booze are always plentiful, and guests have been known to sack out on the theater chairs overnight when the host runs out of guest rooms. When we are at Cliify`s people are sacked out all over. Hell I once hung Mike Parker up on a hook in a closet to spend the night and he slept like a baby. And for meets, members living close by put up members from out of town at their houses. This whole AVS meet thing is a true fraternity with all good and no bad. I have truly made many life long friends at meets.

MArk I hope to make Cliffs next meet. I heard its 6alls to the wall fun

I dig FB. My Facebook has become my personal history. I have my military pics, kids, church, entire life in there if anyone wanted to steal "me". I don't see FB as a My Space, but a portal to connect to old high school and college and military and church friends and of course family.

Peter Sills has a very nice room.

I don't know how they stack up equipment-wise or acoustically, but from a "unique design" standpoint two that jump to mind are The Nautilus and the on-going Silverwood build.

There is a BIGmouthinDCs theater I really like http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=683853

The Prelude MTS is pretty good; listening to it now. Built like a tank and neutral. Maybe too neutral... I have a large room and am running it with a 90 watt SE Pass. More power!

Art,

Cool's room in pretty cool. I would have gone with darker colors but I guess he had to keep in lighter due to the Florida location and all.

So is Cool a ball player or rapper?
Cool is neither.

I actually like the color, and the coffered ceiling! Its the screen wall Im wondering about.........wonder if the 3 sided frame is some sort of masking doo-hicky
post #87 of 143
From pictures I have seen Cool has projection taking place in other areas of the house as well. Definitely a videophiles dream house!

My house isn't all that.. but I do have quite a bit of a/v gear.

You can see my build thread by clicking on "My Movie Palace" link below.

And as Dennis said, No i am not a rapper or a ball player. Just born into a great family!

I am honored just to be listed in a group of such incredible home theaters.

From looking at all of these rooms and hearing about all the equipment, projectors and processors.....Movie theaters are no longer the reference !!!!!

Nice stuff guys, thanx for letting a mid-fi king hang out for awhile
