Need more 3D content

These companies need to stop including 3D movies with their bundles and sell the movies to people who have already spent thousands of dollars on equipment upgrades to watch 3D! I want Coraline, Ice Age and all the other good 3D titles and I should have a right to buy these titles now if they are available! This is ********. I spent over 3k almost 4k on upgrades and for what two movies (MvA, CWACOM), ugh, very frustrated.

Did you not know going in what you were getting? I can totally relate to your frustration with exclusives...it blows, but I knew going in that content would be all but non-existent for a few months.

I stopped by the Sony Style Store in Vegas a couple of days ago. I was speaking with a tech I know there who was told by one of the more senior Sony guys that there will be more 3D bluray's coming out to coinside with the PS3 updates for bluray in September.

I just got a 3D Vision monitor and it sucks even more for me since I don't get any 3D Blu-rays . I've been working on purchasing them off eBay (got MvA for $70!).

I don't know about having the right to buy them. Seems to they have, or rather own, all the rights. Even if it means to exersizing that right to kill the 3D industry before it gets started.

It's kind of hard to get enthusiastic about something this cool only to get bored prematurely because you only have one movie. Fortunately I'm patient.

I just have to keep the number of viewing of my one & only 3D movie(CWACOM) to a minimum. I only watch it to show friends. I haven't watched any of my old LOTR DVD's for a couple of years because I want it to be fairly fresh when the BD of it comes out. Of course I mean the extended editions. Isn't there supposed to be a 3D version of LOTR eventually? I don't think I can wait that long.

Please don't get me wrong I knew what I was getting into when the purchase was made in regards to available content but now that it's here and hooked up I feel the 3D and the technology is soooo good I need more like it's a crack habbit. Really can't wait. I purchased the Samsung PN63C8000 and this set is off the hook. I was however able to order Grand Canyon River at Risk from Amazon Germany which should be here next week and from what Ive been reading next to Coraline this is the must have 3D title. Hopefully this will tide my crack craving until September, in the words of Pookie, this **** just be callin me! Haha By the way anyone frustrated with the rear reflection that appears in the glasses especially when viewing movies in a dark room but with white walls?

The studios don't agree with you - and all the ranting and raving isn't going to change it.

Ranting and raving won't, but, since it is a violation of the Sherman Antitrust Act, if enough of us complain to the FTC....

No, we just need to get motivated and file antitrust complaints with the FTC(I know, I should do it--I just need enough motivation).
On second thought, I'll do it Monday or Tuesday; today I'm going sailing(us retired guys have to maintain our priorities).
On third thought, are there any [i]active[i] antitrust lawyers here?

I'm in the same boat as you; I bought the same TV as you and knew going in that there would be a scarcity of 3D until the holidays at the earliest. Despite that it is still upsetting to see that there are titles out there but are not being made available to the general public.

The frustrating part for me is the exclusivity component of these promotions. Offering free discs as part of a promotion is fine, but why harm the burgeoning industry as a whole by cutting off the rest of your market, especially as lots of folks are actually willing to pay a premium to sample them. I really doubt most consumers would care if the exclusivity portion of these promotions were dropped as long as they continued to get their goodies for free.

Oh well, this is one of the reasons I went with Samsung. The 2D>3D conversion isn't perfect but it does help in tiding me over until more native 3D content arrives. I was watching 2001: A Space Odyssey last night and the Dawn of Man sequences had some really nice depth to them with 2D>3D.

He, heeeeee, "Pookie." What movie is that from? I have white walls in my basement but get no reflectons from my PN63C8000. I'm cracking so much that I ordered Clash of the Titans 3D Blu Ray from Amazon.de (Got Grand Canyon too). The 3D was wierd but I liked the movie enough to buy it (saw it in a theater).

Speaking of Grand Canyon did anyone notice severe ghosting early on when the guy was setting up his camera in that brick ruin room? I did and couldn't get rid of it with the slider. Didn't notice anything else the entire movie.

Honestly, 3D games are where its at. Not knocking 3D films, but I think this technology adds much more to games than it does to films.

Case in point: Avatar (the movie) is a great movie in both 2D and 3D. Avatar (the game) is crap without 3D, but with it its actually really awesome! I was surprised by how much more I've been enjoying games with 3D.

Killzone 3, Gran Turismo 5, Motorstorm 3, (maybe) Resident Evil 5 Gold... oh man, theres some good stuff on the horizon! But what we really need right now (this very instant) is a 3D patch for Oblivion on consoles. What a treat that would be! I'm going to write Bethesda an email right now!

I disagree, I hooked up my PS3 to my 3DTV to try out all of the demo's, didn't care for it much (although MLB the show was pretty cool), and disconnected the PS3, and put it back in my basement to gather cobwebs.

But this is all a personal preference. My preference in content is live sporting events, with 3D Movies a little ways behind.

I may change my mind on games if the XBox 360 starts delivering some 3D content.

I saw no ghosting with my Grand Canyon movie.

I got into 3D gaming first with my 3D Vision set up. I found that 3D didn't really help when it came to my performance, at least FPS's. It does help a lot in racing games. I ended up not playing games in 3D nearly as much as I thought I would. One side benefit is my 2D gaming has reached a new level because the 120hZ monitor allows me to play at high framerates. I get accused of hacking all the time for making impossible shots.

Anyway, for me it's 3d movies driving my addiction at the moment.

Mine too, no ghosting in all of GC, except for that one scene.

.

Wow, that's pretty amazing. Of the four PS3 games that I played in 3D, MLB '10: The Show was the weakest display of 3D. Motorstorm: Pacific Rift was easily the most impressive 3D, although the resolution really takes a hit to run it in 3D. Still, the 3D effect is jaw dropping imho. I could literally see like 2 miles "into" the screen, while racing around that track, and it almost makes the game too easy, because you can anticipate every turn and twist in the track.

Super Stardust HD is probably the second best display of 3D behind Motorstorm. Wipeout HD is just behind Super Stardust. I'd put MLB 4th.

I played James Cameron's Avatar the Game in 3D on a Xbox 360, and it's pretty impressive whenever you're driving a vehicle, but other times, it's somewhat mediocre.

The light from my set is reflecting off the walls from behind me and I'm seeing the reflection in my active shutter glasses from behind. A little annoying.

I'm really most interested in 3d gaming. Have any of you tried doing the 2d to 3d conversion on stuff like COD or uncharted etc

DaGamePimp has played alot of different games with the Samsung 2D to 3D conversion. I think he said that it's a mixed bag, but I'm pretty sure he was really enjoying some of the games after the conversion.

I've tried a few games using 2D>3D on a Samsing 63" 3D plasma and as other folks have said its a mixed bag. At times you get a subtle sense of depth, though nothing will ever pop out of the screen at you and as I play the games I tend to tune out the added depth (much as I tend to tune out the rumble in the pads). Of the games I've tried so far, Uncharted 2 (PS3), Gears of War 2 (PS3), Dead Space (360) and Forza Motorsport 3 (360) seem to benefit the most from 2D>3D; Battlefield: Bad Company 2 isn't bad either. In general 3rd person games where the foreground character is well delineated from the background work best for me.

Very cool to hear. Those are all games I own. I would actually be interested in replaying a lot of games I own just to see how this all factors in.

How's that 63" Sammy? That's the one my wife an I were looking into.

I have the PN63C8000; I've had it for about 2 1/2 weeks and I'm very happy with it; very good 3D with native content, 2D looks outstanding, there's lots of image tweaking options and the games play great on it. I got it at BB in conjunction with a Samsung 6900 3D BluRay player and the 3D kit with 2 glasses and Monsters vs. Aliens. As an aside, I streamed my first movie via Vudu today (the 6900 supports wireless internet and comes with several apps including Vudu) and the PQ was almost BluRay quality. Overall, I think its a good value for the money.
