Polk TSi300 or Infinity P362 Speakers Please help!

I am fairly new to the world of real home audio, and I am on a budget. I just purchased the Denon AVR 1911 and am looking for speakers to go with it.

I believe I have narrowed down the front two to between the Polk TSi300 or Infinity P362. What do you all think about each?

Do you like them or not?

What is it that you like about them or dislike?

I am also looking for a good sub around the $300 range. Any suggestions?

I am also thinking about going with in wall speakers for the two side speakers in the 7.1 system. Does anyone have any suggestions on a decent set for under $250?


I am fairly new to this so any CONSTREUCTIVE advice is greatly appreciated.

My room is about 15X20 with 20ft ceilings.

Between the two you select I like the Infinity P362 when compared to the Polk TSi300 (previous version refered as Monitor 50's). Fry's is currently having a sale on the P362 if you have one around you.

But for cheaper than the Polk TSi 300's you can get the Polk Monitor 70's (which in their current form are called the TSi 500) the only difference is the speaker box finish. So for the money with the Polk Monitor 70's you care getting much more speaker for your buck

A TSi300 (Polk Monitor 50) is not a direct competitor for the Infinity P362. To go head to head, it would be the Polk Monitor 70 vs. the Infinity P362

if you don't have a nearby Fry's, then you can consider Crutchfield for an internet direct dealer http://www.crutchfield.com/shopsearc...ty_primus.html

watch www.newegg.com (or sign up for their email sale flyers) and watch for the next sale on the Monitor 70's.

Good luck finding the P362 at this point. Fry's no longer carries them and the only way you are going to get one is to pay much closer to retail than you would have paid a week ago. As such if you can find the original Monitor 70's they are the better buy cash wise.

Between the two speakers I like the P362's better. IMHO they have a slightly better bass response.

never heard the polks so i can't comment on them. but i have the primus 360's driven by the denon 1610 and it's a very good match. i previously had a pioneer vsx816. it was a good match but the denon is even better. good luck.

P362s are $199 with free shipping at Crutchfield.

Here are my thoughts (this is assuming your talking the Original monitor series and not Monitor Series II):

If your decision is between the Monitor 70's & P362's and price is an issue, go w/ Monitor 70's.
If your decision is between the Monitor 70's & P362's and price is not an issue, go w/ P362's.

If your decision is between the Energy RC-30's & P362's go w/ the Energy RC-30's

I am very much in the same boat as the OP regarding budget...for the LCR combination:

I am considering the following:

Klipsch RF10, RC 10 center

Infinity 362, C350 center

Polk 70's, CS2 center


All approx. same prices...will add matching brand sub or BIC F12...

Any recommendations??? One over the other...or is this a Ford vs. Chevy, DeWalt v. Makita type debate....you are either in one camp or the other?

Klipsch are horn loaded so they sound a little different. Some people like it, other dont. As such I would audition them first before purchasing.

im in the same boat here. just got my denon 1910 and am looking for floorstaning speakers. the Energy 30's are more expensive than the p362's.Is the difference in price worth it? Right now i can get the energy rc 30's for $250 but not from a reputable site or the p362s for $200 from a solid site. any suggestions?

i have the tsi300's and i love them. for the $ i dont really think you will hear a difference anyway.
and for a sub u could prob buy a velodyne sub. i have a polk psw111 sub and it is good but bottoms out when a very low bass note hits.

"sevendust964" deal with the reputable site and you will be very happy with the P362's. www.crutchfield.com is a very reputable site for the Infinity speakers.

Tower speakers are big, heavy boxes and there is always a chance of damage in shipping (I think the FedEX or UPS gorillas in the warehouses love to drop the oversize/weight boxes just to voice their objections to handling heavy shipments). You want a good dealer to stand behind the transaction, and not one who disappears the first minute there is trouble.

This is so true. When Crutchfield was clearing out its inventory of Infinity Betas they sent me a total of seven Beta 50s before I was able to have two unblemished. In this case Crutchfield rocked.

I hate when people do not update with what decision they made and the results, so here it is. I ended up getting the Polk RTI A9's for the front, Rti A7's for the rear, CSi A6 for the center, and FXi A6 for the sides. I also upgraded my Receiver to the Denon 3311 and purchased a Sherbourn 5/1500a amplifier. It sounds freaking WONDERFUL!!!!
