"the remote"?

1. Did you find the second, baby remote yet?
2. Did you find the secret compartment in the main remote yet?

I have a Harmony 1100 gathering dust. Never have gotten it to work. Don't have 300 hours to debug it.

Yes - 4/8/12 hour settings, if feature enabled. It gives you a 30 second countdown warning of some sort, but I'm not familiar with the type warning and the OM does not state.

Certainly better than nothing.

I can appreciate that in an AVR the function of "stand-by" is trickier but does anyone know if this is standard on an audio amplifier? (since there would be no processing or video signals to worry about)

How do I access the Yamaha Receiver Manager Software Integration Function to change some of the labels on the GUI so they are more user friendly. Like I want to change AV1 to DVD1 and AV2 to DVD2 etc.

Please advise. I read the instruction manual but I could not find it.

I see the retailer on post 4279 has a fantastic deal, and is on the list below. They won't mail it me in the mid west though - store pickup only. If you go to that store, and want some cool looking on-wall mount speakers, check out the wonderful (and thin) Definitive Technology XTR line. I am using the XTR20BP Bipolar speakers for surround.

Circuit City
they are still an authorized yamaha dealer!?!?!?!?!!?

What problems are you having with the Harmony 1100? I have the same remote and have no issues. Maybe I can help you out.

Just took advantage of this deal. Have been looking but this is the cheapest I've found. It may get lower when the 10's come out but I'm not waiting. Thanks for the heads up

Count me as one who picked one of these up with this deal as well...$100 off the cheapest I've found anywhere

I currently have a Yamaha RX-V765 connected to five Emotiva UPA-1 for my 4ohms Vienna Acoustics. I have parasound 2100 prepro with HT bypass. I'm thinking of simplifying my system and to cover part of my purchase for A2000 by selling the parasound 2100 and V765. Now, if I get the A2000 and connect it to the five UPA1, what improvements will I get? Ofcourse A2000 is newer and much higher model than V765, is there really an actual difference in sound quality particularly on direct mode 2 channel music. As for HT, the Yamaha V765 seems enough but what improvement do A2000 offer? The V765 receiver is until now the last thing I would like to upgrade. I can't get myself over the fence to upgrade V765. A speaker upgrade is usually the first in the list, but receivers? Thanks for any help.

How much is the reduced price? Thanks

Call Electronics Expo - their price on the 3000 is less than the 2000 above.

Bit the bullet and got a 2000 at the egg. It was a toss up between yamaha and marantz sr5006 pairing with def. tech mythos STs...hope I made the right decision...that no refund policy from the egg sure sounds scary....

Yep. ext. 150 "Rich"
Well under retail of rxa2000, shipped. Expo has 4 rx-a3000's left at that price.

If you've the spare coin... and don't want to wait till September...

Good luck

I had one in the basket but removed it at the very last moment. It's going to be hard but I think I'm going to wait for an A2010 or A3010. I'm interested in the Advanced G.U.I. features amongst a few other small changes. I do hate to miss out on these great deals though. I don't imagine the new ones will be discounted right away?

You probably won't have to pay MSRP even if you pull the trigger right away. I got my 2000 in early October I think, from Newegg, not long after it came out, and I got the $400 gift card with it. It's not the same as $400 (or better still $500) off the price, but it was a good deal for me because I had schtuff I needed to get there as well.

Called Rich at Electronics-Expo. No-go on the A3000 for less than the A2000 at the Egg. Price must have jumped.

The GUI looks identical to the previous models. I don't think there's any significant change there aside from apparently allowing the volume control overlay to be disabled.

Something can't be truly discounted if they were never actually offered at a higher price previously, but I wouldn't be too surprised if there are retailers willing to sell the new receivers below Yamaha's MSRP in the US. Yamaha is pretty good about keeping advertised prices in line, though, so the "discounts" may not be obvious.

The volume control is what I really wanted but is it worth the wait and probably more money? As I'm sure these deep discounts won't be available right out of the gate!

Well, I called Rich at Electronics Expo and ordered an A3000, just couldn't wait!

how long did the 1000/2000/3000 models last? Was it a 1 year cycle, or 2 year cycle. I probably wont be able to purchase my new avr until around this time next year, will I be looking at the '10' models, or will the jump to the '20' (or whatever comes next) already in place?

Tried it to, and no go. Was going to cancel the Egg order. By the way I've got a RX-V1880 and a 3900 I guess I'm going to sell. Both in like new condition.

Weird, did he give you a deal comparable to the A2000 @ Newegg?

Announced one year ago. Until the last year or two, Yamaha's recent practice had been to run an annual product refresh cycle. There was a longer break between the x63 and x65 model ranges than usual, plus Yamaha numbering jumped from x67 models to x71 (skipping a likely numbered x69 sequence). So we might guess they dropped one annual cycle. The intervals between the x65, x67, and x71 ranges have been more 'regular' but perhaps with fewer real innovations. This might presage an era of regular but more incremental model changes...?

The so called improvements for the 1000/2000/3000 to 1010/2010/3010 are very small in reality, but for some reason Yamaha have decided to introduce huge price increases. If they want to continue to lose customers, then they are going the right way about it.

Reminder: This is AVS...MSRP price talk only.
Thanks
